Sony recalls Cyber-Shot digital cameras

The problem surfaced after users complained about unusually short battery life of Cyber-shot DSC-P1 cameras, Sony said in a statement published on its official Website.

Sony spokeswoman Mami Imada refused to disclose the number of recalls. An estimated 500,000 units have been sold worldwide, including Japan and the United States, since it hit the market in October 2000.

Sony will inspect the camera and its attachment, and if needed repair faulty parts for free, Imada said.
