The Xerox Phaser 6100 prints at 21 pages per minute in black and 5 ppm in color, with a choice of native 600 by 600 dpi or enhanced 1,200 dpi mode resolution; 64MB of memory and both parallel and USB2.0 interfaces are standard.
An $899 Phaser 6100DN model adds a 10/100Mbps Ethernet adapter and Xerox’s CentreWare embedded Web server. Both printers (based on Samsung’s CLP-500 hardware, with some engine tweaks and new color and halftone firmware from Xerox) include 250-sheet main input and 100-sheet multipurpose trays, with a 500-sheet second tray optional.
Xerox has also added a compact monochrome laser, the Phaser 3130, to its lineup. The 17-ppm unit offers 32MB of memory, a 166MHz processor, and 1,200 dpi resolution, as well as USB 2.0 and parallel ports and a 250-sheet input tray. It’s priced at $299.
