This is absolutley the worst printer I have ever purchased. I have had it less than a year and have successfully printed maybe 10 sheets off of it. Paper will not feed, and when it does, it calls it a paper jam, so I have to pull the sheet out and start over. This is the LAST HP deskjet I will buy, as I have had horrible luck with every printer made by HP that I have owned, mostly in the 800 series.

Print quality and general performance are good, but as with other remarks on the HP Photosmart 8050, paper feed and paper jam problems make this machine an absolute nightmare to use. It is simply impossible to leave it printing unattended, as it will inevitably jam or think it is out of paper after every 2-3 sheets. Most of the time, it won’t even find the first page without the user manually feeding it in!!

I’ve never had a problem with my HP 8050. Yes it does go through a lot of ink but I don’t get digital looking prints either. I can’t stand those! I always get perfect prints that are bright and vivrant and I’v printed over 5000 pictures on my 8050 in the past year, and also I’ve never ever had a paper jam.

I hate this printer. I wish I had looked online for some reviews before I purchased, we just compared items at the store and made a choice. We had it for a while before we opened the box, and then didn’t use it very much. I had printed maybe 10 photos (not including all the reprints and head-cleaning that was using up ink) and the yellow ink stopped working, it just won’t print yellow. I ran the cleaning utility over and over, but it did no good. I called HP customer service, and was on hold forever, and then talked to some idiot (who was probably in India) who, after about an hour of chit chat and talking it over with his manager, deduced that the print cartridge was bad, and offered to send a replacement. Great. Then, he spent about 15 minutes trying to convince me to buy the extended warranty, but I refused, thinking, well, if it’s just the cartridge that is bad, I shouldn’t have any more trouble. So, I got the replacement, but it is still doing the same thing. And guess what?! I’m now out of warranty. Lovely. It would have saved me a lot of stress (like I needed any more in my life) to just mail HP a check for $200 and get it over with. This printer has been tons of headaches, and all for what? I’ve printed about 10 decent photos from it. I’ll never buy another HP printer.

Maybe I’m just lucky, but my 8050 makes super quality prints, uses any paper I put in it with no complaint. I bought it when they first came out and am very happy with everything except todays cost of cartridges.

I am having many of the same problems as everyone else with this printer [HP Photosmart 8050]. HP should have done a lot more QA before releasing this printer, period. Since the day I brought it home and installed the “bloatware” driver (has anyone else seen such a ridiculous amount of driver software?!?!?) I have had nothing but problems! Here’s a “quick” list of issues I’ve compiled. I couldn’t leave it printing by itself. It won’t take a piece of paper without me manually feeding it. When I do manually feed it, it also “jams” on a regular basis. I cannot get the blue to print, I have done all three levels of cleaning so many times I must have gone through 3 separate cartridges. I have used alcohol on the cartridge as well. No luck. I also don’t like how the only way to access the firmware to utilize the utilities is through the LCD display on the front. Now that’s user friendly isn’t it??? HP WHAT WERE YOU THINKING?!?!?! I work in the QA department with strict standards and I would NEVER pass this product on to consumers. This is shameful.
