I too have been extremely disappointed in the use I got from the ESP 2170 machine before it stopped working. I am a light user, with no color printing needs, yet the color cartridge gets used in B and W printing, and empties way too quickly. I put in 2 new cartridges and the new message was that the color cartridge was too low and needed to be replaced. It was purchased at Staples, Nov ’11. They have no support for me. A shoulder shrug is all I get, and they tell me that it will be cheaper to ditch this printer and buy a new one than to try to get it fixed. Sadly, I hate admitting that I am tossing a 51/2 MONTH old machine with $32.00 worth of BRAND NEW cartridges, but that is precisely what I am going to do.

I give this machine less than 1 star.

I have only owned the 2170 for 3 months and have been extremely disappointed; especially since my goal was to upgrade from my old, but reliable kodak printer. This new model prints at less than 50% of what my previous printer did in one single color cartridge; 50 color pages of pictures versus 12 pages for the first color cartridge and 26 pages on the replacement color cartridge. Additionally, the color ink cartridge was twice as much; for the previous kodak printer using a 10 cartridge it was $14.99, while the new printer requires a 30 cartridge that costs $29.99 at retail stores (staples and office depot). That means you pay twice as much for half the pictures. I have been in contact with kodak several times concerning this issue and nothing has been resolved (I have copies of the emails which they have ignored).

Previously, I recommended my old kodak printer to everyone I knew and would gush about it’s ease of use, low cost of ink, and high volume printing. A sad turn of events.
