Still top of the food chain

I recently upgraded to the 705 wifi after my older AV700 developed a terminal fault. I was very impressed with the durability of the AV700 as I used it on my daily commute by train for over 3 years!!
The only minus points I have found thus far are
1. The wifi does not support ad-hoc networks!!
2. The Electronic Programme Guide is not kept up to date with channels available on my UK TV provider (Virgin Media), so I use the scheduler instead.
That’s it nothing else to complain about. I have purchased a couple of the audio/video codec add-ons and that was a simple process to download and install. I will probably purchase the ‘Gold’ extended warranty from Archos so that I am covered for faults/breakdown for the next 3 years.
All in all a worthy competitor to the IPOD stable with the trump card of Direct Video Recording using the optional DVR station.
Check out the site NewMP3Technology.com for bundles and accessories. I bought a bundle that included the DVR station for much less than if bought separately.

Archos Makes the best

I have an older Archos and what I love about them is that they make a player that can do almost everything, but do it well. They are made of steel, last longer than an iPod i’ve ever owned, and still look great. The picture quality is good…not great. But it’s still bigger than any iPod and it’s “close enough”. I like the DVR recording features and it’s easy to travel with. My only complaint is that I had to buy extra software to make H.264 and other files work on the player as it didn’t come fully loaded.
