I don’t know what people are talking about, I love this card. Had it since I bought it and to this day almost 3 yrs later still works PERFECTLY FINE! I have nothing bad to say about this card except when splitting the signal on a DVI adn VGA the resolution can’t go higher than 1024×768 on both.

    Bad!!!
After I installed that card, I got frequent crashes, quality of text and graphics is awful, quality of the tuner very poor, picture is changing after each restarting (re-setting of display properties regularly)
    I THREW away $230!

In response to the person who posted above, when the 8500DV came out it was good compared to TIVO. But by today’s standards, it probably is not as good as the newer Tivo’s or the newer AIW 9800PRO cards.

In theory, this is a great product. I really liked the idea of having TV on my computer and the ability to records shows–but this is not a great alternative to TIVO. The quality of the tuner is poor, and thus, so is the recording. Don’t plan on recording all your favorite TV shows to watch in the future–this isn’t the right tool. Rent and rip the DVDs when (if?) they come out.

Installation is no easy task–frequent crashes, horizontal lines, and ATI’s website isn’t setup to make finding drivers easy.
