When I first bought this card it worked good, not great although it’s better than onboard, Well I started updating my drivers which I didn’t like too much. Things got down to it and I just installed the driver.. no catalyst, and no avivo codecs nothing except the driver. And now I play bf2, bf2142, cod4, and several other games on medium to medium high graphics. Although the Antialising and anstrophic filtering sucks, if it’s even at 2x there becomes some lag issues in the games I play. Anyways Its a good card for cheap (if you pay $40 like I did). Don’t expect to buy this, throw it in and max out your graphics on cod4, but it works better than onboard. Good luck to future buyers (if possible look for an x800 much better quality I would say as this is the FIRST all-in-wonder PCIE card… (which is usually buggy when it comes to ATI and “first releases”.)

ATI X600 PRO TV hangs up
By: charlie
November 16, 2006 @ 1:59 PM30ppm11>
I have seen some threads describing how the ATI X600 Pro card will cause the system to hang up and require a total system reboot.
When I bought my ATI x600 Pro board, plugged it in and loaded the software, it worked great. My problems started when I had a total system meltdown and I had to reinstall Windows XP Pro. I first loaded Windows XP PRO and got ALL of the updates from the Microsoft WEB site. I was prompted by the Microsoft web site if I wanted to download the ATI drivers. (Don’t do it. I did and I think — but am not sure — that this started the problem.) Then I completed installing the remainder of the software.
When I tried to watch TV, the software would hang up, the TV would just freeze. I could still use other programs but the TV was frozen on the monitor. The only help was to do a total system reboot.
After actually speaking to a living person at ATI who was helpful, my problem still wasn’t solved. So, I entered a trouble ticket on ATI’s problem resolution site. The first response I got was just about what the guy at ATI told me to do. So, I sent in another trouble ticket and told them the type of mother board I had (ASUS A8N SLI Deluxe) and the operating system (Windows XP PRO)and everything else I could think of.
Then, the magic occurred. I got a response that told me that I should uninstall all ATI software and they gave me detailed instructions on how to do it. Then they said to download and install Catalyst 6.10 and Multimedia Center 9.14. (There is a Multimedia Center 9.15 as well, however I continued to follow their directions.) Anyway, things didn’t work as I had expected. So, I got the original installation disk for my ATI card and reinstalled the software. THEN, I installed Catalyst 6.10 and Multimedia Center 9.14. There are 4 parts to MMC 9.14. You need to install these in the order that they are listed in ATI’s web site. One of the four downloads is optional. Anway, after I did all of this, everything worked fine.
Incidentally, the answer that ATI sent me in response to my second trouble ticket was much more detailed that the first.
As an after thought, there may be something about some XP update that is not compatible with older versions of the ATI software. I don’t know this for sure.
All I know is that I followed the new instructions and now my ATI card works. Of course, the first thing I watched was K State beat Texas. Oh, well, at least my ATI card is working.

Poor Support from ATI

This card seems to be a fair graphics provider. My TV tuner worked for awhile then began to hang after running for about half an hour. Tried ATI customer care. They couldn’t help and suggested filling an RMA with warranty service section. That’s OK but they wanted at least a 10 day turnaround for a new card. I work from home and can’t have my machine down that long. They should have a swap-out program or at least return to dealer. This is my last ATI purchase!

X600 -obsolete

This obsolete PCI-E card should not be purchased. My card came broken and ATI does not offer express exchange service on obsolete cards. They have also changed their warranty recently-again. DVR does not work, Lousy stills interface. Poor performance with TV window freeze even with 64 bit processor and PCI-E interface. Is the X800 next?

For all the typical ATI reasons and I regret buying this card.
I wish I had bought a nvidia 3d card and maybe an ATI TV card seperatly.

No reason to buy this card

An overly expensive card combined with ugly skins, poor interface, ugly Guide Plus interface that doesn’t have correct channel lineups for all areas, typical ATI driver issues, incompatiblity with other video capture software. Go for a separate tuner card that can be easily disposed of. Avoid the ATI TV Wonder USB 2.0 as well, unless you enjoy messing with similar problems as the All-in-Wonder. Most reviewers feel some sort of compusion to rate ATI card’s well.

Not only outdated...

You have to be sitting at the computer to view the Guide Plus TV line-up. There doesn’t seem to be an option to show the line-up big enough to see it while using the remote, and there isn’t an easy way to get to the guide while using the TV and Remote. I would like to be able to open the guide with the remote and choose a program to watch. Another feature that I would like to see, is a sleep timer / alarm feature to automatically turn the TV Tuner on/off.
The card itself was pretty easy to install, and the TV Tuner works pretty well. The 256mb Video is nice for games as well.
If you want to built your own Windows Media Center PC, don’t use this card, it isn’t supported.
