Switched from a film camera to the S2 4 mths ago – greatest advantage I don’t have to get the film developed & printed!!
Overall a good camera. Some points that could be improved (prob’ly already mentioned by other reviewers):
1. Lens fogs up in wet weather – taking shots in the rain is more fun;-)
2. Sound for videos & length of videos
3. Battery charge – can just about take a full complement (60 at 1200×1600) of pictures on a 64MB SD – and sometimes not even that (is it because my friends & I have GOT to see each shot right after it’s taken? ;-)
4. Stripped down USB cradle/charger – the one provided is more for desktop use – cannot be packed easily with your laptop/palmtop – cradle looks fragile!
The Z3 looks good (optical zoom!!) but I think I will wait till I squeeze some use out of this one! I am quite happy with the purchase, and will wait to upgrade – maybe if I get a raise next year?!

Top notch camera from Casio

I bought mine from Ebay at an excellent price and it came with the official Exilim leather carry case (which I strongly recommend – though it costs about £25 I hear).
It is near perfect, it’s small but not so small that it’s irritating and it has just about everything you could possibly want from a semi-pro digital camera. The LCD is crystal-clear and the camera build quality excellent.
A few negative points and only minor are that the images are a bit soft even with lots of lighting and normal range – 2MP hardware resolution is fair but I’ve seen better and its not a patch on my Fuji 4900Z (2MP -> 4MP interpolated), movies could do with unlimited recording time (and sound – though this is addressed with the Exilim EX-M2 and S3) and also the rocker-switch/control joystick is small and fiddly (also fixed in the EX-S3).
Saying that you really cannot go wrong with this camera, it’s small and light, fast operation (helped by fixed focus lens system) and looks good. Mine goes with me everywhere now clipped on my belt! Recommend to anyone – and as far as I can tell the EX-S3 rectifies all known bugs and issues with the other models so maybe that’s an even better buy.

Only real digital point & shoot

Unlike most contributors to this section, I’ve used this camera for about 8 months. The battery life is pretty bad if you use the flash and the LCD viewer and there is no lens cover. Everything else is great, particularly the amazingly fast start-up time, which usually takes several seconds. That’s a major advantage of not having an optical zoom, in my opinion. For the first reviewer, 2 megapixels is 1600 x 1200 NOT 640 x 480, which I agree is insufficient. However, for snapshots, I still find myself editing the file size down so I don’t think I’d benefit from the 3 MP model now on sale.

I love this camera! It’s small, sleak design is perfect for taking just about anywhere. It also has a lot of cool features. The only things I would improve about this camera would be to add optical zoom and a macro feature, and maybe add some sound to the video function. These are things that would be nice to see in the later models, along with a higher resolution, but 2 megapixel isn’t bad!

I’ve seen this camera and its really small. I was impressed by it’s size. Does anyone that owns one tell me what you think of it?

WHY fuji has better.

Fuji has one better. I hate these things for 1 reason, and its a cheap problem. NO focus RING.
And the specs kinda suck. 640×480..
Wait 1 year and watch the 800’s come out.
