A great receiver for the price

I recently decided to upgrade my Technics SA GX910 Dolby Pro Logic with the Denon 3805. The Technics was cutting edge a decade ago with digital optical inputs and 4 channel surround sound but it was time to step up to the 5.1 Dolby Digital world.
This receiver has all the features anyone could want except for the lack of hdmi inputs or outputs. It was easy to setup up and the sound is impressive. I do not know how this receiver would sound with less efficient speakers but my Klipsch Reference Series system has come alive without overwhelming the visual experience of HD. It perfectly complements the rest of my AV system and my wife even finds it a pleasant addition to our home.
The remote is hit and miss with poor lighting during day light hours but it does have a wow factor that your friends will find cool. I would recommend using a Harmony 688 instead if you want to keep your spouse happy. It makes all my other remotes obsolete. My wife can operate all of my AV equipment with one press of a button and that in itself is worth a fortune.
I looked at several other manufacturers like HK, Rotel, Yamaha, Aragon, etc. and the best bang for the buck is the Denon.
My only criticism, as suggested earlier, is the lack of HDMI inputs and outputs but I guess that would have pushed the price a little beyond most peoples financial capabilities but I could have done without most of the other analog inputs and outputs. The only other minor criticism is that the speaker terminals do not accomodate large diameter speaker wires very well.
If you are in the market for an AV receiver, you will not be dissapointed with the Denon’s performance and features.
My setup:
Denon AVR 3805 receiver
Denon 910 DVD player
Klipsch Reference 5.1 Speaker System
Hughes H10 HD Receiver
Kenwood DP-M97 CD Player
Panasonic AE700U HD projector
Sony Wega 27″ Monitor
Proscan VHS player
Logitech Harmony 688 Remote
Blue Jean Cables
