I just bought GBM last week. I loved it! It’s very portable and cute. I’m planning to buy PSP but I changed my mind when I saw GBM in the gaming store.
Good work to the Nintendo Company!

From the girl who made the jump from the original grey brick to GBA (but no backlight!!), I finally decided to pick one of these babies up (used, of course).
I got to say, I LOVE MY GBM! I can take it anywhere, and there are trillion-and-one great games for GBA out there, so I’m never out of things to play. It’s slightly thicker than my cell phone, so keeping it in my pocket is actually not annoying!! THIS is portable gaming at its best. All my gamer friends have admitted envy over my sleek little game system. Zelda at the bus stop? Metriod in the waiting room? Sneak a round of Dr. Mario at work?? No problem!!
Two thumbs WAY up. I may never need another game boy again.

I absolutely love the GBM. It is the greatest thing to come out since the game boy advance in 2001. The screen is very small but also so bright and you can adjust the brightness at will. Speakers suck, but u can plug in your own headphones without purchasing an additional headphone adapter. An absolute must buy for Nintendo GameBoy fans.

I absolutely love this thing I can actually fit it in my pocket unlike my DS Lite and I don’t feel like a Nintendo crazy boy while playing it in public. I got it when I was down in Seattle at a GameStop for a low price of 30$ (there being discontinued I guess they one to get rid of them) its black with a silver faceplate and comes with two additional faceplates one is camouflage and the other is a flaming and orange it comes with a little pouch and a charger. It is extremely sleek and has good controls overall the best Game Boy ever.

Hello all! It’s the good ‘old Micro Master again. It’s been a very long time since the last tome I wrote a review… well; I just thought I’d bring up the fact of how long you can enjoy something. Well, in the past, I have gotten several months of constant enjoyment from my past Game boys, BUT, with that being said… have my good ‘old micro stood the test? One word… YES!!!! I still take everywhere I go and it has been sort of like a companion to me these past 2 years. My Girlfriend has fallen in love with it and I now can’t leave it anywhere without her taking it. It has stood the test of time so far… and it has many years to come. Until then… this is the Micro Master signing off.

November 12, 2007 @ 5:10 PM08ppm11>
First off, hands down my favorite Game Boy EVER!!! I can only really compare it to other game boys because the PSP and DS are two totally different systems than the micro. It takes some time to get used to playing but once you are, ITS EXCELLENT! The brightness level toggle is brilliant and the screen produces exceptional graphics for a system under 100 dollars. However, it is difficult to find accessories for it although “Naki” makes a great GBM kit. THE ULTIMATE GAME BOY!!! A MUST BUY!!!

I just traded my GameBoy Advance in for a silver GameBoy Micro. It is so great! I love the backlit screen. The size and weight is amazing. You can take it anywhere and also use it anywhere because of all the light settings. I think it was well worth the $40 I paid for it. I would highly recomend it.

The micro Master is back with smething that will enhance your gaming experience to mind blowing levels!!!! You’ve probably heard about surround sound for TV, but have you ever heard of surround sound for the Gameboy???? I just made this discovery that if you hook your micro up to a surround sound system, you could for example, be playing Super Mario Bros. but in surronud sound! I have now solved the problem to my only slight negative to the micro. The sound always seemed somewhat weaker than my Nintendo DS. So I hooked it up to my surround sound system and BOOM! My tiny gameboy went from slightly weak sound system to a whole theater!
It was mind blowing. It is just another way to enhance this almost flawless gaming experience. its like having the power of surround sound in the palm of your hand!!!!!! Until later this is the micro Master signing off!

micro plays more than just games !!

March 3, 2006 @ 5:44 AM00pam3>
Its the micro Master again and I apologize for the bombardment of reviews. But I recently got my hands on the Play Yan software for the micro and that’s when I realized… Why get a new ipod when this can Do all of the things an ipod can do and the system also has a huge amounts of games where a ipods you can listen to music and watch ipod video while the Play Yan can do all that stuff and The system can also play games. ipods dont play games. Save yourself a few hundred dollars and just buy the additional Play Yan for the micro and I swear you will be more happy with that than with an ipod. Ever since I got the Play Yan from a very generous friend in Japan, I havent listened to my ipod at all. Crazy I know but I asked a few of my friends and they liked the play yan for the micro better than my and their ipods. That is another good thing to go on my long list of why the micro is great! I hope this will make you think twice about getting an expensive ipod, when you can get the cheaper and better play yan for alot less. Until Later . . . This is the micro Master signing off.

I Got one and it's frikn awsome
By: Qb
February 8, 2006 @ 4:35 PM25ppm2>
I have read reviews of the Gameboy micro on differnt review sites all over the internet. The opinions varied quite a bit. some said that they were going to get one because of its design and small size, some said that they had some concerns about the screen getting scratched or some thing or it was to small and that they would probably lose it. I got mine and immediatly turned it on to be blinded by it’s crystal clear screen and brightness since my ancient gameboy advance sp light had long since gone out. I have littlerally played it nonstop for 2 weeks and the sreen is still as bright as ever! I showed my friends at school the micro and my one friend said “HOLY FRIKN CRAP, THAT IS FRIKN SMALL!!!” Although I was dissapointed that they didnt have any of those special micro anywhere. Hopfully that micro master guy was right about at least the face plate. That would at least be cool. The small size is really good. I dont find it really straing my eyes to look at the screen. I also have a DS but when I saw the micro the small size made me buy it. The micro is one of the first Gameboys for every body. Perfect size for small kids still comfortable for adults with big hands. My Grandpa has huge hands and he liked it. The micro is awsome!!!!!!!

Famicom better than expected!!!!!!!
By: bob
January 26, 2006 @ 11:42 AM57pam1>
I have said before that I ordered a 20th anniversary Gameboy micro faceplate off of Nintendo.com. prior to it’t arrival, i thought it would look like it had been painted on a blank faceplate like the faceplates that come with the system when purchased. The underside of the faceplate is a chrome color unlike white on the regular faceplates. The front is a metallic gold with metallic red trim. Its very shiny!!!! It still looks fantastic on the black and silver skin micros. i think it looks better than on the red skin famicom micro. that’s just my opinion. If you have lost your faceplate key (the white thing that looks like a guitar pick) it comes with a new one. This was helpful to me becuse I had lost mine somehow. Dont let that discourage you from buying one though. It was my irresponsibility to blame. i had to use paper clips to pop out the faceplate. Say you ordered it on Monday. then by Friday it would have arrived. If you were able to awe your friends just with the standard faceplate micro. Get a famicom faceplate and see what they’ll say or even Do just to touch it. I have people at my knees begging me to just let them touch it. it’s insane. there just is nothing bad that can come out of the micro. Until later… this is the micro master signing off.

psp or gameboymicro i help u decide
By: dream
November 10, 2005 @ 6:51 PM17ppm11>
1.start with the most inportant thing
(portablity). Psp can’t fit in your pocket but the gameboy micro can!
2.Next thing color can you change the psp color nope but you can do that with the gbm and shapes too!
3.Now the size and everywere taking can you take a psp anywere, anyplace and without it being noted nope you can’t hide it (if u want to hide it).
The gbm can if you want to take to school without it being seen. Have you thought of that? (but don’t think good thing to do and take to school just example).
4.Immpresstion do you want your friends to see you playing a big and thick and can put it in your pocket
and can’t change the ugly color?
(also the cool thing right now is not thick but thin cellphone)NOPE not me! or you can be seen with a stilyish, cute, small, totaly portable, thin and cool color disign? ME!
5.Games ok the thing is that the psp
has cd type games it is very easy to scrach (you can hardly touch it!)but with the gbm chip you can touch almost everywere!
6.next screen ok this is what the psp people say about the micro our screen is bigger But what do you expect? Of corse it is smaller it is portable and also the images on the micro is better than the psp! So the size of screen dousen’t matter but the how you see it matters!
7.One more thing gaming the psp says i have music, video and gaming ya so so dous the micro! ya it’s true!
in fact gba game up with it first!
now it your turn psp or micro i know you will make the right choce!

October 12, 2005 @ 10:15 PM57ppm10>
I was a little suspicous of the micro when i fist laid eyes on it i defenitly went through the process of making my desicion quite a few times especialy because of the price but i eventuly caved and now i take it everywhere i was a little heart broken to find out that it couldn’t play my origanal games but that didnt stop me its definetly pket firendly and i like the face plates but it took me by suprise that it needed one always and there was no base plate i would suggest you get one of theese but keep this in mind (DO YOUR RESEARCH!!) make sure its what you want such as specs and combatability cause its not for everbody

Battery life nowhere near 10 hours
By: pixelator
October 10, 2005 @ 12:51 AM10pam10>
I don’t know how you lot reached the 10 hour mark, but I get MAYBE 4 out of mine, and it’s had a few cycles thus far. That’s with the screen on second or third from brightest setting. Sleep mode also kills the battery quickly. With a full charge, I played Minish Cap for approx. 1 hour, set it on sleep mode and 3 hours later I had red buttons.
You just won’t get much out of a tiny little 380mAh lithium battery. As cool as the GBM is in most other respects, and as much as I wanted to love it and was taken by its size and vibrant screen, I just don’t see it as viable for hardcore gamers — only the Paris Hiltons of the world need apply for this condom-pocket Gameboy.
The new brighter SP is by far the superior value and is no ‘tank’ even by comparison. Methinks the author of this review was a little starstruck. Better battery life, bigger and even more vibrant screen (albeit slightly lower refresh rate) and a rugged folding form factor equates to the SP retaining its title as best all-around value and game performance for any gaming handheld out there (yes, I do have a DS and PSP and enjoy both).

It got me!
By: Cathiie
October 7, 2005 @ 10:20 PM13ppm10>
I wanted a Gameboy Advanced SP for the longest time, for 2 months. I told my dad, and he said he would get it for me in Christmas, but my birthday was in like 3 weeks from the time he said that.. So I hoped I would get it for my birthday from my dad.. On the Day after my birthday, my boyfriend wanted to get me birthday present. So, we went to the mall.. and he said he wanted to get the gameboy advanced SP for me, since he knew my dad wouldn’t get it for me anyways. We went to Planet X (game stop) and we were looing at it.. When a person that works there (a friend of my boyfriend) said that there was a newer, better system out. And he showed us the Game boy micro.. I saw it and I fell inlove with it. It was so cute, and small.. But it was more expensive. My boyfriend said the price didn’t matter, and he got it for me. along with FFI & FFII game. I was playing it, and it was so cool! The graphics were great! and at first, It took me a minute to figure out where the select, and Start button were. But I figured it out. I noticed that the screen lights up, not like the game boy color which was soo cool!! The next day, (after playing it all night until I fell asleep) my dad gave me $70 for my birthday, with that I bought 3 more games for the Micro. Now i’m addicted to it! I can’t stop playing it. IT’S SO COOL!! It’s my new best friend. I got used to it fast, So it was no problem getting used to. I’ve had the Game boy color, and Game boy advanced. I didn’t know about the micro until the guy told us. and i’m glad I didn’t get the SP after all. Even though it was cheaper.. I’m very happy with my new gameboy! I was just looking for pictures on the interenet, to show my brother who lives in another state. and I saw started reading the Reviews, and I wanted to post my story. Very satisfied.. Just a little upset that I can’t play the game boy color games in it. I could play them in the Advanced, but not the micro. :(

Gameboy Micro passes the test
By: charley
October 4, 2005 @ 9:24 PM35ppm10>
I have an Advance SP but wanted to try a Gameboy Micro for portability’s sake since I have to go on a trip in a few months. It’s safe to say that I’m impressed by the Gameboy Micro and that I made a great acquisition, which I further validated by researching plenty of forums, reviews and looking under every rock all over the web to arrive at my latest great purchase. Yep!, just finished test driving this device and once you figure out how you’re going to hold it it’s time to “let the games begin”. The games look much better and colorful and scale well in the new flawless screen. First I threw on Tekken Advance and the controls were great. Then it was FIFA 2005, and I found some moves were a little tricky to perform due to all your fingers being “a little busy”. Then it was Metal Slug, which made me kick the Micros’ ass so I could get thru the boss on Stage 4. I have never up to my mid-life crisis, button mashed as fast or made so many agony faces while biting my tongue in any video game, period. But I couldn’t go on my next trip and still be stuck on the same stage I was stuck at last year. Mission accomplished. The micro took the beating like a champ, felt sturdy and it still works great. Then I took the Micro to bed, if you know what I mean. This is where the screen really shines, in total darkness. In a silenced room the weak speaker sounds like it got a pair or I just found out I got great hearing. I was impressed by such a little device. The speaker can be heard just low in open environments as well as in the middle of geek shouting matches. Plug in some good quality earphones and you got yourself a great surround sound system. What I didn’t like was that my thumbs were sore after my R&D was over and that for $100 the big N doesn’t round off the package contents with a wrist strap and a travel case but if it’s any consolation, they include 2 face plates and a dust pouch in the package; the battery charger is expected.

great little handheld
By: bob
October 2, 2005 @ 5:28 AM46pam10>
I am 65, avid gamer, have had almost all the game consoles, portables etc.
I was very leary about getting this unit because no one had a demo I thought I would have trouble with the small screen, especially after reading all the negative reviews (?) obviously those clowns never saw one. I just bought one, they’ve been discounted already in Canada to $98.00 which is like $80 US and bought an old ESPN Golf game for $7.00.. It’s fabulous, graphics, sound etc are great.
So make sure that the reviewer has actually used one.
I heartily recommend it.

Incredible.
By: Jesse
September 29, 2005 @ 12:21 PM21ppm9>
I just bought mine yesterday. Now, it should be noted that I only have zero (that’s 0) games for GBA. I’m borrowing one from my friend, although it’s basically mine, since he said I could use it for as long as I wanted, as often as I wanted. It should also be noted that the latest handheld system I have is the GameBoy Color. Yes, it’s true. I’m borrowing somebody else’s GBA, and, unfortunately, they said they wanted it back.
So, I walk into Walmart, and I ask the guy to open the door so I could see it. He did. Now, before I was completely crazy about the Micro, because I hate that you have to be RIGHT UNDER THE LIGHT to play. So, this would solve that problem. Also, I’d actually be able to play my friend’s game. Problem #2 solved. However, right next to the Micro happened to be the GBASP. It was $30 cheaper. I reviewed:
The Micro has a smaller body and screen (inproved resolution), I’d be able to play GBA games, the backlighting would work miracles, and it would make my friends “teh ub3r jeluz.”
However: It’s price is a bit high. I only “have” one game, and it’s not even mine. I could get the same thing (although a bit crappier) for thirty dollars less.
I decided on the Micro. The changeable faceplates were a bonus (a very cool bonus). Now, I immediately opened the box (carefully, in case it wasn’t all it was cracked up to be), and inseted my game. The difference. Was. Amazing. The backlighting, scrunched up pixels, and awesomeness of the console around the screen improved the game quality by 300%*. So far, it’s been awesome.
Although, I can’t seem to find the link cable jack. Maybe I’m just missing it, or.. maybe… it doesn’t have one. In which case, a feature of my game is destroyed.
Also, the start and select buttons are something to get used to. They’re a lot lower and out of reach than previous buttons. I also noticed you can’t turn off the light. “Why would you want to?” you ask. Well, at midnight on schoolnights I’m supposed to be asleep, and not playing games. So, the ability to turn off the light is well missed (although I never had that feature… ever).
The ability to adjust the brightness of the screen is a little handy, I guess. I don’t use it much, but it’s cool. The glowing start/select buttons are a cool bonus as well. The buttons are all fine, if you ask me, but I see how bigger fingers could fumble. Kinda like with the start/select buttons. Perhaps most importantly, the size is very helpfull. It’s not too heavy, so you don’t get tired (as quickly) of holding it, and it really does fit anywhere. It’s the most portable hand held I, or my friends, have ever used.
The L and R buttons have been enlargened and the D-pad has been “elevated” so that it’s higher off the console and, therefore, easier to use.
Pros:
Smaller size
Better visuals
Better portability
Changeable faceplates
Comes with carrying bag
Cons:
Start/select buttons awkwardly placed
No Link Cable compatability
The faceplates are tedious to change
Can’t disable light
I give it a 9. It has it’s cons, but it’s still the best Hand-Held I’ve ever used.
PS: YAY! I’m first! Never been first.
