1. Not supplied with network card

   We have had no trouble printing as many copies as we want, or double sided although all the HP printers we have had have never been good at picking up paper. You can clean the rollers yourself though. Our gripe is the lack of networking facilities. Yes, you can have an add on – at a price. But, to our mind with a machine designed for the home/office networking is a must. One of our other machines is a 6980 and that is brilliant provided you do not need the A3 paper size as for 9670. The biggest problem we have apart from no network facilities is envelopes. It can only take 10 in the feeder and that is far too few.

2. Troublesome

   I agree that when it prints the quality is good. Unfortunately if you want to print more than 25 copies of something the 9670 starts making a ratcheting sound and then refuses to print. If you leave it alone for a month or two as I did because I thought it was a goner, it might start to work again until you try to print too many copies in a row. If your only printing a few copies of something it might be OK otherwise it is horrible. I have had other HP printers and this one is the worst. I have to buy a new printer now because my HP Photosmart 1315 (a wonderful printer) is not compatible. I am a little leary about buying another HP because of the 9670.

3. More trouble than it's worth

   The one good thing about this printer is that the photo resolution on high gloss paper is outstanding.

   Otherwise you are looking at a LOUD piece of junk. It has always had a problem picking up multiple pages. When the problem got too bad – I had it serviced. The service tech said that HP doesn’t sell replacement parts (for rollers) because this is a “disposable” printer. (at $500!)

   If I tried to print on both side of anything less than 60lb paper – forget it. There is a 10% usable rate. At least 90% of the pages would be ruined because the printer picks up 2-7 pages at a time.

   Last week, the print carriage broke. Again I had it serviced. The guy cleaned the rod that the carriage rides on and said that the “ink/dirt” was jamming up the carriage…Hmmm doesn’t that seem like a design flaw? This was only a temporary fix though as the carriage is again jamming up.

   I called HP to replace the printer (since it’s not even a year old). They were quick to send a replacement of a refurbished model, but I’m certain I’ll be looking at the same problems. I’ll be biding my time until it crashes comepletely and I can buy a different product.

   By the way, I have an HP camera, scanner, and previously owned hp printers and computers that I love…but the HP Deskjet 9670 is less than a shining example for the company. Do yourself a favor and DON’T buy it.

4. The HP 9670 is a pathetic printer

   I purchased the HP 9670 printer primarily to print A3 size Newsletters. Just out of the box, and just after setting up the printer I proceeded printing the newsletter. By the 2nd sheet the printer ended up totally shredding the paper. The paper was newly opened and was in perfect condition (i.e. no folds, bends or dog ears…).

   I would typically (attempt to) print about 70 A3 sheets per newsletter release. On leaving the printer to print on it’s own about 40% of the paper would either be shredded, or not aligned properly when printed on or would result in misprinting of several pages at once due to the page feeder managing to take more than one page in at a time!

   This printer was a waste of money, time and effort. I would strongly advise anybody looking for a printer of this speciation to look elsewhere!

   The HP 9670 would make a better paper shedder than it would make a printer!

5. Great results

   Hi I’m living in Belgium and a hobby of me is photography. So I needed a big (A3), quality printer. I had doubts between the Canon i9900 and the HP 9670. I also wanted a duplex unit and I know the customer service from HP is excellent and these two things confinced me to buy the HP instead of the Canon.
   I certainly don’t regret my choice, what a results!!! OK, it takes a while before a high quality photo is print, but it’s worth waiting. And with this printer you get 20 sheets of A3 HP premium photo paper! And the duplex printer works like a charm, this is really a added value for me!
