I think things have changed with the HDX since the Feb comments below. My new HDX (got 2 – wife has one as well) is fantastic and it looks incredible.
If you want a portable to lug around go small, if want a computer in 1 room (desktop replacement) or just to move around the house, this is awesome. My HDX has CORE 2 DUO 2.6GHZ, 4GB RAM, 500GB HDD (7200), no problems with remote and everybody that sees it says WOW !!! Connected to my 5.1 surround sound system (Sony amp) and HD projector, it blows your mind.
Luv it.

It is only one of the first really big ones. Still Fan cooled. Nowdays we have othe means to cool chips. It´s a little integrateable thing, so it will be a part of the processor itself. It will make such machines more powerful. Concern is the weight: try to carry such performance machine in a normal home PC case. With a monitor. A nice 21″ CRT COW. HEHE…
Well. I think that after this one there will be others. Better or worse. It´s up to users to aim the best ones…

Not a waste of money. But HP has a lot of errors with this model, indeed. With the GeForce 8800 Go the system is optimal for the latest games and video editing. 720p High definition screen included, crystal clear! Add some bucks and get the 1080i screen instead. Recommended.

BAD

This is not worth 3,500 big ones. Manufactured in China= horrible product. DVD Drive broke within 3 months. Camera does not work with all chat programs. Remote control does not work properly on any HDX I have seen.
For so much memory, it runs real slow.
Too heavy, no carrying handle.
All in all biggest waste of money ever.
