I got the 7760 as a Chistmas gift from my son in-law.He knew what he was doing. I am fairly new with computers and printing, so before I started, I read the books that came with the printer and computer. You know what? It is very strange, not one problem. I print maps letters pictures in B/W and color. I say if anyone has a problem with this printer, read the book.

  2. Rip off! Only 10 color prints per color cartridge.

Just returned a new one, replacing a HP722c. I only get 10 color photos out of a single ink cartridge from the Photosmart unit. I even tried 3 sets of cartridges with help from HP. They instructed to run head clean & that process burned a entire cartridge. Great images for the few gotten, and if you only shoot white people in white clothing on an overcast day on snow or the beach! Don’t buy this unless you enjoy loud sucking sounds &seeing your $$ go down a pipe.

I have had this printer for about 4 years and it produces excellent prints on the right type of paper. I found that lowering the ink volume helps the cartridges last well and I get over a hundred 6×4 prints from one cartridge. Never had a problem with it yet. Get ink and paper from 7dayshop.com.

  4. HORRIBLE!

This is truly a HORRIBLE product if you want a reliable, easy to use printer. The photos are barely acceptable. It sucks down expensive ink. And heaven forbid you EVER want to print a black and white document. It comes out with yellow highlights. I’m tech savvy and have read the manual, tried to adjust the settings (completely UN-intuitive). This is the second DOG HP printer I’ve gotten stuck with. No more!

Bought this printer a month after it was released and to this day the print quality remains excellent. The only niggle I have is that the flap over the memory slots is awkward to open. The cartridges are far better value than on the newer models, so I will not consider a replacement whilst this brilliant printer is still working.

I have used this printer daily for more than 5 years and it as never let me down. Using genuine HP cartridges and reasonable quality paper the print quality remains excellent. I have run it on W2K, XP, Vista & for the last couple of weeks on the beta of Windows7 without any issues whatsoever. Some of your reviewers should revert to crayons if they cannot run this superb printer

I bought this printer a few years ago because it came with a free r/c formula 1 car :) and up to this day it prints very nice photos. I bought the optional photo cartridge – which I seldom use – and the grey scale cartridge for some nice old black and white scanned vintage photos. My only concern is the right hand lever, it always looks like it’s about to break. Also the 56/57 cartridges contain sufficient levels of ink, unlike the newer 22 and 350 carts.

  8. Printer Cartridge Jam
    Anthony

I have owned this printer for approximately 2 years and all has been working fine. I print photos on 4×6 primarily and do some B&W office printing. After 2 years, the print cartridges are jamming inside the unit and printing skews sideways. Photo prints also have a white edge. Pressing on the cartridge seems to reset the issue, but that doesn’t last long. Printing in draft mode is also now problematic and causes a jam quickly. I need to replace this unit I believe at this time. Ink also seemed to be expensive if printing photos, but the quality was good with the 57 and 58 cartridges in place.

I have had this printer for a couple of years, and like it–however, I am having a problem with color right now. For instance–I took two photos of the same scene. When I printed them, one came out perfectly normal colorwise. The other was off color, with a purpleish blue color.

We’re having the same issue regarding the ink cartridge being stuck and not sliding to print. We too are getting an error statement saying the unit is jammed but there’s nothing that I can see causing the jam. Anyone know what the issue is? It’s been a great printer until now some 2 years later….Thanks

i bought this printer about a year ago to use in my business and it gave me great service. however, it now prints dark or light at random, even though there’s enough ink and everything else is ok. i use it to print 2 1/2 X 3 1/4 photos which i turn into passport sized photos for my customers. two can fit on a 4 X 6 paper. the first 2 comes out ok, but the second two prints off color. then it may print all ok, or all off color. definitely it is not good for a business.

I have owned the 7760 since January ‘04 and printed many 8×10 as well as 4×6 prints. I generally print in the “normal” or “best” modes; even after 2 years the prints still look as new as the day they were printed. Most of them (family shots)are left right out in the open. NO FADING OR OR NOTICEABLE DEGRADATION! I always print on the “top-of-the-line” HP or Kodak papers.

Please note: save ink and print in the “normal” mode or “best mode”. The results are great!

I’ve had the hp Photosmart 7760 for 7 months and am BITTERLY DISAPPOINTED!

The photos I have printed looked good at first, but the blues are turning green, the flesh tones are fading to white and the entire photo takes on a sickening yellow tone — AND IT’S ONLY BEEN A FEW MONTHS!!!

I HOPE I CAN STILL RETURN IT!!!

  17. Love This Printer

I use mine mostly for printing 4×6 and 8×10 photos. It does a beautiful job. Had it for 6 months and have not experienced any problems such as paper size too small. For the price, I can’t think of any other printer that does so much so well. It is also fairly frugal with the ink usage. I highly recommend.

  18. Worse Printer I have ever Bought

The HP Photosmart 7760 Photo Printer has a major flaw in that it generates an error message- “Paper Size is too Small”. There is no permanent solution for this problems. HP only provides a workaround within MicroSoft Word, and it has to be applied for every print job.

Don’t waste your money like I did.
