Though this printer is pretty good when it comes to quality of prints, it is extremely aggravating. Not only does ink cost a lot, but the printer reads the ink cartridges to be empty before they are completely empty. It will refuse to print anything if one cartridge has been marked empty, so if you are out of yellow ink, and you need to type a report with only black ink, you are screwed because the whole thing stops printing until you fill up that yellow ink. Not only that, but the thing has two black cartridges, one large one and one small one. The large one has yet to run out in the year and a half since I bought this, but the small black cartridge has. Even though there is a whole thing full of black ink in there the printer will tell you that it can’t print because you are missing ink. So what is the point of of the large one that costs more!? Sorry, but I would much rather the stupid thing just print even if pictures may be lacking proper colors then just completely shut off and not work anymore. Not all of the pictures need every color, especially if they are for school projects. I just bought an entire set of new ink cartridges and for some reason it marked them all close to being empty (I printed one 3 paged double spaced essay with no pictures). Now it won’t print at all because it is saying they are empty when they are clearly not, and I put them in correctly a dozen times. If you don’t want to deal with that kind of crap then get a different printer. Prints very nice pictures, but sucks as far as trying to regulate itself.

This is the noisiest printer I have ever heard and it takes forever to begin to print. It does a very poor job on envelopes. I was used to the 970 and made a mistake in buying this printer for general printing. Great color for photos, though.
