nice 1600x900 resolution

HP 2009m 20-inch monitor is big, bright and cheap. The max resolution of 1600×900 is very ideal to watch 16:9 format movies. Now we can say good bye to those black bars that appears on the top and bottom of the screen.

Review of HP w2007

Don’t let the hype fool you this monitor is not worth the money at any price if you intend run anything other than productivity software.
The HP software falls somewhere between a work in progress and being down right harmful to the performance of monitor. That’s right after installing the software provided by HP the monitor developed what can only be called a quirk for lack of a better term.
I’ll give it kudos for not having any dead pixels.
This monitor, despite its impressive looking stats, is not well suited to being mated to high med to high level video cards for gaming. It has definite issues properly reentering modern gaming software; it’s rather pointless to have a video card(s) with a gigabyte or more of ram and hooking it up to this level of monitor.

Great Monitor that is now DEAD and past warranty

It is now GARBAGE. After 18 months of recreational home use the monitor DIED and HP said that since it is after their very short 1 year warranty, they will not repair or replace it. $349.99 dollars GONE. No matter how good or bad a monitor is the company that makes them (HP) must stand behind them against manufacturing defects longer than 1 year.
Imagine if your SONY TV stopped working after 1 year and they said they wouldn’t help you… you just know that wouldn’t happen and until HP steps up and changes this lack of respect for their products, themselves and you the customer there is no reason to buy HP products. Almost all of the other computer companies that produce monitors have a 3 year warranty and they are as good or better than HP monitors.

I like this monitor, but I am having trouble with the driver. Using Vista home and it only recognizes a generic pnp driver.

Love it! Works well with 20" Intel iMac!

Right out of the box, no issues with compatibility. I was impressed with how closely it matched the monitor in my 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo (new 20″ iMac). Of course a little tweaking was still in order through Macs onboard system color calibration. I’m a graphic artist and I love to have most of my ‘tools’ panels open all the time. So this was the primary motive for buying it. I have bought, and returned many LCD monitors, in the past, for various reasons but not this time. Very, very pleased.

Best bang for your buck

This monitor is amazing!!!!! I totally love it! I am blown away by its amazing picture and quality! The image is just incredible. I originally had a 19′ dell and as soon as I got this one I could see a major difference in the image quality.

Great For The Price

I spent several weeks reviewing LCD monitor Reviews all over the web. I currently own an NEC MultiSync 90GX2 17″ with opticlear (gloss screen). While the HP w2007 is a great monitor for the price…I still feel that the 90GX2 is a better built unit. It also costs about $100 more and included a USB port with 2 slots.
The w2007 has a wonderful picture and mine arrived without any problems and included the DVI cable. Setup was a breeze and from box to desk it took all of 10 minutes.
The software HP includes is basic and was not of much use. I used my Nvidia software to set all the settings, and removed Hp’s.
At $239.00 I didn’t expect to get a higher refresh rate than 60Hz. Although I would have preferred at least 70Hz. I contemplated the 22″ HP but, I didn’t want the .28 dot pitchas opposed to the 20″ .25’s crisper resolution.
Quirks/Rants…Why put an illuminated blue power button at the top with the user’s field of vision. Bad place. No USB hub…come on guys…for an extra $10.00 you could have gone the distance. The cable management system is basic at best. NEC does a much better job. The speakers are not worth a comment as I knew they would be useless anyway. No harm…No foul.
The choice of a silver base may be more eye candy appealing but, a black base would have been less noticeable and made for cleaner lines all around. The lack of a height adjustment does not bother me personally.
I primarily use this monitor for gaming with an Nvidia 8800GTS 512mb card.
All in All it is a worthy purchase for the price.

Excellent

I bought my w2007 from Best Buy at a price of about 212$ after taxes (with the staff discount). It was refurbished, but it did include a DVI cable. Although a USB hub would be nice, this is the nicest monitor I have ever owned – I upgraded from a dual Samsung 17″ CRT setup. Overall, this monitor is a fantastic product for a fantastic price.

Beautiful

I love my new HP w2007.
The monitor is glossy and has the best picture quality I’ve ever seen.
So far, I’ve had no problems with mine!
My DVI cable WAS included.
I bought mine from Circuit City for $269.99.
This monitor is also great for GAMING!
It’s as if I had an upgrade in graphics just by the monitor!

Eye popping - WOW

I love this monitor, best choice in monitors I could have made. Made my computer look new again. It’s a shame for those that had problems. The rating is really much lower than it deserves. Only two of the complaints were valid (IMO) this really deserves a 9.7 rather than 7.6.
1: No DVI cable – It happens, I got mine.
2: Monitor shut down on a nVidia card – Think maybe it’s the card and not the monitor?
3: Broken stand – Hope your new one rocks but the rating to a hit for it.
4: Mac os support is one hit it deserves – Other Mac user had no problem, hmmm.
All in all I think this totally rocks, more onscreen real estate really make a difference and the colors are better than life like. Would give an 11 rating if I could. Worked right out of the box but I used the CD drivers anyway, just never know what you might be missing by not using them.
I’ve been buying HP for a while now and havent had any issues so HP this Buds for you.

This monitor was an impulse buy a few days ago. The price was right and I love it. It came with both VGA and DVI cables, which is good because I can hook it up to my Mac. I took it out of the box and plugged it in. I run OS X, I skipped the drivers entirely and it works like a dream! The colors are fantastic, photo editing is fun again! If I’m having problems with glare working on dark photos, I just turn off the lights in the room (I have a backlit keyboard), problem solved. The speakers leave something to be desired but it’s a monitor, not a speaker system. One of the sweetest pieces of tech I own!

Best monitor I have owned

I was extremely impressed a couple years back when I bought my Inspiron 9300 with the best display they offered at the time. I got this monitor and hooked it up to my laptop and there is such a difference it just about blew me away. I empathize with those who have had bad experiences-it is inevitable when so many are sold, but at this point I can’t think of too much I would trade this thing for!

I just bought this monitor yesterday. I don’t like the speakers but that’s ok, my Bose speakers will work, but the picture is excellent. I love this thing, it works great with my Windows Vista media center. Looks great.

Unlike the writers review from May 07…..mine came with both Analog and *DVI cable*, also power and audio cable. Bought mine Aug 07. I was worried about the ease of changing screen brightness after being spoiled by my Sony 17" lcd. Not to worry, easily done with the touch of one button. Windows XP Home recognized it as Plug and Play Monitor, install was seamless, didn’t need anything off the HP cd. I’m using DVI the supplied cable. It’s the same height as my old 17" lcd and is 4" wider [viewable]. Bought at Wal-Mart store $258 [online was more].

This monitor is magic, and alluring. I know the glossy display comes with its many drawbacks but it has come a long way from the original Sonys. I really quite like it, it’s seductively attractive. I feel like I’m a slave to the mirror like finish that can be distracting (but looking at a regular LCD just doesn’t cut it anymore).

w2007 monitor

I received my Hp W2007 monitor last night in a very fast turn around time since my purchase on the HP website. Unfortunately the base is defective and it cannot be set up. After speaking with a half dozen "technical" staff, and wasting half a Sunday afternoon in the process, HP has agreed that there is indeed a "physical" problem with the monitor, and has agreed to replace it. The new delivery date is Aug.8. They say that I must return the defective monitor within 15 days of receipt of the replacememt, or be charged fully for the piece of junk that they sent me. Also there will be a document of some sort that I can use to have it returned. Thank God I did not tear open the carton when I opened the package to see my new monitor. What then? Do I have to go and buy new packaging to send this thing back to them? Also I was given an order number and a web address to track the shipment of the new monitor. I cannot find any information associated with this number, and called their "customer service" number in that regard. I was told that it would be trackable,maybe tomorrow, by the most UNCONVINCING (supervisor) voice I have spoken with since this afternoon when I initiated this complaint. I bought a Dell computer 2 years ago, and have had no real complaints, but decided on HP this time, since I have read that Dell has recently fallen short in the customer service department. I think I made a mistake and should have stayed with Dell. I hope that when I finally see the new monitor in action that I can write a good review. But for now HP is not in my favor.

Be sure to hit the Auto button/or feature when running on VGA and/or non-native res. I have a hard time believing that "sharpness" would end up being an issue on this screen.
I’ve been such a snob (perhaps because I’ve always been told to be) about glossy screens, but this is really swaying me.

Doubtful quality?

I love the 3-D feeling of that screen + the colors. It stands out from crowds of monitors in the shop, especially when running a colorful screen-saver.
There is only 1 doubt I have – sharpness of the picture – somehow it doesn’t seem sharp.
It may look like an not configured frequency issue, but the screen accepts only 60Hz and it doesn’t look sharp. Especially the test.
It could be that I’m missing something and it’s really a pity… but it seems that I’m going to return it for that reason.

Simply outstanding

Originally I had visited local retailers to see Viewsonic LCDs in action. While looking I found the Viewsonics to seem dark and dull compared to an HP w2007 that was nearby. I was pretty floored with how bright and vibrant the image was. Went home, did some research, and ended up buying one. Very pleased with it so far. Kudos to HP!
Also note that mine DID come with a DVI cable. The review mentions that they do not ship with them.
Pros: Very, very, very bright. Staring at a white screen could probably give one a sun tan. Colors are brilliant. No ghosting.
Cons: The buttons feel flimsy and the OSD menus are somewhat cumbersome, although this is a minor annoyance since these functions are rarely used (for my anyways).

Cheep. Stylish. Great image quality. Great software for Windows XP. Some (small) configuration problems, however nothing to worry about if you are medium user. I really canÂât understand some reviews, based on a atypical use of the equipment.

Still great when working

Woody again, I returned the w2007 for another one and also bought the 19" model for my wife (I liked them that much).
The new w2007 did the same thing (screen would flash on and off every 2 seconds) at the boot screen, in the bios setup and at the desktop, plus would shut down and not turn back on. The 19" did the same thing – all I can figure is that these monitors will not work w/ the Nvidia 6800 GT – what a shame.
Also there is no height adjustment.

Great monitor if it works

I bought the w2007 last night, hooked it up, the screen was sharp and clear, looked great at 1680×1050 @ 60hz, then after an hours or so the screen would go blank every couple seconds – I thought it was the settings but it would do it at the bios, boot up screen; was very upset.
I’m not sure if I’ll get another when I take this one back today.

Monitor may be great, but no support for MacOSX

The drivers on the CD that came with the monitor were for Microsoft OS only. HP support chat doesn’t work with MACs, and HP’s email response from an ESL technician did not answer my question about whether drivers are needed i.e. what features and capabilities of the 2007w would be missing if the monitor is used with a Mac.
