I got my JBL DW-314 invader as a gift right after it dropped into the marketplace.

I am on my third PC and the JBL still works.

Now one of my friends wants to buy a new speaker for his PC, I just tell him my good impressions.

I purchased this in 2003 and i still use the system to this day. I’ve never had a problem with this and it still works like the day I bought it.

    Ok, Im sorry.
JBL used to be a decent speaker.
But in the last 10 years they have gone DOWN hill. Take that, and then the idea EVERYONE is jumping on the comp speaker bandwagon.
I would rather find a JVC boombox with audio inputs, and go from there.
You get a External volume control.
You get CD/tape/radio player(without useing comp).
    DECENt sized speakers
    and other options.

JBL Invaders conked out 1 month after the year warranty. My Harmon Kardon Sound Sticks and subwoofer lasted 2 months past the warranty. After that, they are simply doorstops because the cost to ship and have them repaired encroaches on the original purchase price. Coincidence?….$600+ later I’m not at all impressed.

Besides it’s extremely stylish look, the JBL Invaders (4.1 + subwoofer) sound incredible, especially for their $179 price tag. Bass was powerful but not overhwleming, highs were reproduced faithfully. The only lacking element was the mid-range sound, which makes the sound less full…other than that it is extremely impressive. Harmon Kardon systems are used on all top of the line cars (BMW, Mercedes, etc.)

The JBL Invaders were like something out of a Sci-Fi flick when i saw them on the table at a local retailer, and i had to have them — and this was before i even HEARD them!
Turns out, that was a “display copy” not for sale, and they wouldnt even demonstrate them for me. I read designtechnica’s review as per google.com search, and decided to take my chances with just ordering them online and hoping that they were a good buy.
I am very happy i did, and the review written here by design technica is very accurate. treble and bass sound excellent, but you’re not going to get REALLY deep bass – but i listen to mostly rock’n'roll and classical (as opposed to hip hop/rap/r&b) and my music sounds EXCELLENT. the cords on the speakers are long enough to “surround-sound” my whole room, and they just look so cool!
whether the volume is turned way up or way down, these things really hold up, and at the 150$ that i bought them for, they are REALLY REALLY worth the money, especially compared to other things in this price range. Gaming is awesome as well.
Overall, a great buy. Thanks DesignTechnica.com for writing the review that got me to buy this sound system!
