screen problem
By: E. H.

I’ve only had this product for about three weeks, the sound and design is quite good but I just experienced the same screen problem. Though it’s fixable it’s quite annoying, and for $200 I expected something better. However I must say that it’s much easier to wake up to the music of my iPod than it is to wake up to the loud beeping of an alarm clock.

Screen Issue on 2nd returned item

Although this product sounds fair, I too have had the same screen problem. JBL was more then happy to fix my problem, only they exchanged my unit for a dirty used one that still had dust on it. A few weeks into the 1st return the alarm clock screen would freeze again…for over 200 dollars you would think they would build a better product…

Not a well-manufactured product

I am now on my third unit and the same problem has happened to every one. After a certain amount of time, from a week to a few months, the on screen display becomes distorted and illegible. All on screen functions become inoperable. You have to unplug the unit and plug it back in. Clock needs to be reset, presets re-entered, basically a pain in the neck. JBL really needs to troubleshoot this product and shouldn’t have it on the market until they correct the problem.

Display Glitches

Same issue. I bought one of these today. After 2 hours of use, the screen is fragmented and full of loose pixels. Turned it off, and on… the glitches come back. Shame… great product, if only I could see the time it would work great as an alarm clock.

At this price, its a deal

In spite of its short coming, the JBL ‘On Time’ at $140 is a deal (at the reg. price, it’s a ‘4′). The sound quality is excellent. The worst flaw is not being able to plug the iPod in and start the music at the track already selected; instead On Time defaults back to song 1. And programing has a bit of a learning curve and the display is antiquated. BUT…$140 smooths out these design & operational bumps. And at that price its still a better deal than the newly updated On Time with no clock at $250.

Just a $400.00 problem

I bought one of these and it is great, except for the screen glitching just about every month. Spoke to distributor, was told it was a power fluctuation problem (although many buyers seem to have the same problem) and was told to buy a ups. Now why if I have already forked out $400 would I want to spend another $200 on a device to stop mine from stuffing up. Also as the last review states, he/she is actually incorrect because you can go to individual tracks no problem, you just cant choos them from the unit, you have to choose them on your ipod. Great unit, but I wish I had spent the extra and got the apple dock.

Nice design, poor functionality
By: Alex

You would expect something this nice that costs $250 would have the ability to select and pick play lists or even a specific song.
… No.
Plugging in your ipod every single time will automatically play your entire music collection. That’s right. Read that carefully. ALL TRACKS. There is no playlist, compilation or ipod navigation support.
No amount of style, sound quality can overcome such pathetic design flaws.
I returned this overpriced piece of crap to Costco and bought a simple @Home clock/radio/ipod for 1/3 of the JBL.
