We love it

We did try it in the beginning about 2 years ago and did experience the start up pains that the company must have been experiencing. We loved the phone at that time but had problems with coverage. Thankfully, through a referral from a family member that got one, we did try it again and are very very HAPPY with that decision. Still an excellent phone. Easy to use and customer service is fantastic. The website has proven to be just fine with numbers and ringtones added just fine. We highly recommend it as we searched high and low for a phone that would provide us with low monthly service and such a breeze to use.

SCAM -- Stuck with Phone--Stay away-Far Away
By: Walter
February 2, 2009 @ 12:23 PM15ppm2>
Well, I didn’t use the phone for a while because when we called to cancel our other cell phones, we discovered that we had to pay for 3 more weeks so we used them for that 3 1/2 weeks. When I started to use the Jitterbug, calls were dropped, the voice dial wouldn’t work, and he batteries went dead really quickly. Called customer service.
Told her that I tried to use the voice dialer to call home, and she said I didn’t say “home” correctly. She changed it online to “house”. It didn’t work either.
They get a lot of money up front for a phone with very few features, then deliver very poor service.

I have nothing but high praise for Jitterbug. My husband and I wanted a phone that we didn’t have to read a 200 page manual to learn how to use it. Jitterbug is fast, easy and someone is always there for you 24/7
we both love it. In this hurried world we live in I have better things to do than play with another phone toy

speaker phone accessibility grossly misrepresented
By: Patricia Jones

My spouse wears two hearing aids and has a brain shunt due to a head injury. I was looking for an easy to use phone for him where he would not have to reset the speaker phone each time he made or received a call. I was very clearly assured by the Jitterbug rep that this was the case. Of course, it was not. It has been a nightmare of persistence to get all fees refunded. Even once that is accomplished the return shipping is an out of pocket expense. I have the names, dates, etc., of the original and subsequent transactions, and just won’t give up. Finally was given a partial refund, but am still fighting for the full one promised. I feel this company’s elderly market is being preyed upon.

I would agree with the first reviewer. My father’s experience with this company has been horrible. The phone is of extremely poor quality and the customer service is weak. Did some research and turns out that Jitterbug is backed by a bunch of venture capital firms. It won’t be long until this blows up…remember Amped and every other MVNO. He switched to Verizon and he is much happier with the service.

My father hates this phone. It’s more like a toy you would use to teach your 2 year old how to dial a 9-1-1. He constantly complains about the service. We are taking care of the billing which seems to be wrong every month. The reps at the Care Center are rude and inexperienced. I thought this would be a nice gift for my Dad but it’s become more of nightmare each month than anything else. I cannot recommend this company’s phone and/or service.

Jitterbug has been really good to us

January 24, 2008 @ 11:19 AM04pam1>
I purchased a Jitterbug for my mother this past holiday season, via their customer service center. I had the phone sent to my address, so the Jitterbug would be a surprise on Christmas morning. Unfortunately, a welcome kit was sent to my mother’s address prior to Christmas, since that is what I listed as the billing address. My mother found out she was getting the Jitterbug 10 days before the holiday. I was really disappointed that the surprise had been spoiled. I decided to call into the Jitterbug corporate office, to let them know my story. I ended up talking with a very capable representative at Jitterbug. She was so helpful, and even went the extra mile to send my mom additional Jitterbug accessories, to make up for the spoiled surprise. I received 2 lanyards and a T-shirt, about 2 days prior to Christmas. I was able to surprise my mother with a fully equipped Jitterbug package. Jitterbug went out of their way to make up for the error that was made. They made it very obvious that they care about their customers and are willing to do whatever it takes to retain their customer’s happiness.

Thank you for designing a product with us in mind

January 14, 2008 @ 3:37 PM24ppm1>
I purchased a Jitterbug over a year ago and absolutely love the product. It is easy to use, just like the advertisements say and there are no contracts, so if I choose, I can leave the Jitterbug service at any time. The makers of the Jitterbug put a lot of thought into their market, and for that I am thankful. I do not think I would want any other phone beyond the Jitterbug. This phone is perfect for someone who does not need all the bells and whistles that other phones have. It is also great for those of you out there like me, who have failing eye sight. I just want to thank the creators for keeping the elderly in mind.

Jitterbug give our family peace of mind
By: Alanis Perez
December 10, 2007 @ 9:13 PM46ppm12>
I purchased a Jitterbug for my father (now 73 years old). He absolutely loves the phone. The large back lit buttons, and easy to use yes/no options buttons are fabulous for him. For the first time in the 21st century my father feels that he can “handle” some of this technological mess.” The jitterbug has given our family piece of mind. We can get ahold of my father at anytime, as he has the Jitterbug on him at all times. We also feel better knowing that there are 24 hour operators available to help out, should he need them.

HORRIBLE SERVICE
By: Lisa White
December 7, 2007 @ 11:12 AM49pam12>
I purchased the dial handset over six months ago — the reception was horrible. I spoke to the Call Center and they told me to send the phone in and they would provide me a refund. It is December – and the Jitterbug ads are on the TV – which reminds me, I have never received my refund. The company does not seem to know what they are doing. My advice — go with a different phone and different carrier.

I ordered the phone in mid-August. A month later I had no phone so I called. They couldn’t find any record so I cancelled. In November I got a bill so I called again and was assured it would be taken care of. Yesterday’s VISA bill came with the monthly charge on it so I called again. I’ve been assured…again…that it really will be taken care of.

I have never had such a horrible experience in my life! The Customer Care Center is a nightmare. I was on hold forever and the rep was not able to assist me. The company mis-billed me over $100 and will not take responsibility. The reception barely works. I wish I would have done my research.

Neat phone, horrible company...

November 20, 2007 @ 1:52 PM28ppm11>
My wife purchased this phone service for her mother about a year ago and we’ve had a horrible experience.
STAY AWAY FROM JITTERBUG!
The bills that we got were much higher than we expected but when we tried to track down the problem we just got the run-around. When we asked for a detailed call breakdown, all they could produce after 6 weeks was a very suspect Excel spreadsheet. It looked like they had put it together by hand! While most of the charges were legitimate and just were a result of my mother-in-law using the phone much more than we had expected, we also found that we were overcharged a number of times. I verified it by comparing the minutes on my Verizon account with the ‘minutes’ on my mother-in-law’s Jitterbug account. They charged a 90 second call as a 90 minute call!! We canceled the phone service about 6 months ago but we’re STILL receiving monthly bills. I’ve never dealt with a phone company like this before. It made me nostalgic for the old ATT monopoly.

My children wanted me to get a cell phone and I made the mistake of buying off on the advertisement for Jitterbug. My daughter tried many times to call me but I never heard it ring, although it did display missed calls. But the most important feature doesn’t work. I can’t hear on the dang thing! Suggest no one buy this product as it is highly overrated.!!!!

Jitterbug phone- Fantastic or a Fluke?
By: Linda Tampke
September 25, 2007 @ 3:59 PM44ppm9>
I’m somewhat disappointed in the Jitterbug Customer Service Dept. I purchased the phone for my 87 yr. old Father who is sight impaired. He loves the phone. I am just disappointed that the website is still down for construction. Due to that I’m not able to add names/numbers to the phone book list. Some numbers that are listed are listed twice. I would like to be able to check the minutes used on the companies website but that is not available. When I call the Customer Service Dept. with my questions I may be transferred to three different people before I get my question answered and then I’m not always sure the answer is correct since one person says one thing and another person says another. That’s disappointing.
I’m hoping in time these problems will be resolved because this little phone is so important for my Father.

This article is false

September 17, 2007 @ 11:09 PM29ppm9>
There is only one ring-tone on the Jitterbug cell phone by Great Call Inc. Whoever wrote this article should edit it because this is blatantly false. You cannot change the ringtone on the website. This feature is not available yet. Jitterbug and Great Call Inc are masters at fraud and generating customer complaints. Stay away from this company. They will bill you for calls you never made and their coverage area is horrible. The Jitterbug cell phone is a rip off.

July 14, 2007 @ 11:04 PM01ppm7>
I sent in a list of telephone numbers by fax, they were not applied to my phone. I called, they said to leave the phone on and they’d be added. They weren’t. I phoned again, they said they didn’t have the list now and to fax it again. I checked the fax number ON the telephone, using it for the first time and to get jitterbug fax number again. I was charged 13 minutes for a one minute call. I cannot reach http://www.myjitterbug.com by computer to add my phone numbers. It would cost a fortune to add numbers through the jitterbug operator. If the phone numbers aren’t added this time, I shall return the phone.

AWFUL! Do not buy.

April 24, 2007 @ 4:40 PM46ppm4>
I bought this phone for my parents because they are a bit technophobic so I thought anything that makes it easier.
The phone that came did not have the features advertised: Upload your own numbers via the Internet? Not available. Enter them yourself on the keypad? Not available.
The only way is to fax it to them. I called them up the service was HORRIBLE. I finally just returned the phone asking for a refund. Two weeks later I get another one delivered to me. I refused it, and called them up. FOUR times and still no luck. I’m always told a supervisor will call back, and no one ever does. DO NOT BUY THIS PHONE!
