Weak joints, it breaks easily
By: Mike
November 5, 2009 @ 12:29 PM04ppm11>
I purchased this product 6 weeks ago and it is already broken. The manufacturer claims that it can easily hold 25 lbs, but it broke with much less weight than that. The problem is the plastic hinges (locking mechanisms). It is a poor strength plastic and strips out very easily. Forget their customer service. They claim that they will contact you within 24 hours, but they don’t. Bottom line is that it is over priced and built with shoddy materials.

Didn't purchase.

I was seriously considering purchasing. The pictures look GREAT! But after reading the reviews of poor product, plus poor customer service, I thought better of it.

RIPE OFF -- and a fortune in shipping and shipping back
By: R Trost
June 18, 2009 @ 4:28 PM15ppm6>
The product is flimsy and my laptop (Sony VAIO 11″ screen, so it’s not even a huge laptop) tips the product over. Not a big deal, I’ll just return it. So it basically cost me $34.00 to ship here (UPS Ground — the cheapest available) and now I have to ship it back. Obviously they plan to make their money on the shipping profit margin.
It’s a shame…

I haven’t experienced any of the poor customer service the above person noted. I’ve actually find them pretty good. They answered my questions promptly.
I am extremely satisfied with my unit, I use it everyday and it’s brilliant!

Disgusting customer (no) customer service available.

May 20, 2009 @ 4:33 PM39ppm5>
They have no customer service to track your purchase. I paid $80 next day shipping and have not even received an e-mail from them. Calling is useless. Evan says he has to e-mail someone to get back to me in 1-2 days. His supervisor refused to speak with me. Can’t cancel the order through them. I have contacted my credit card company to investigate. Don’t do business with them if you don’t have to.

LapDawg is a Pathetic Pooch!!!!
By: Dan
May 4, 2009 @ 8:25 PM46ppm5>
Cheap plastic parts, extremely flimsy, could barely stand upright with my 17 laptop on it. Good idea, but cheaply made, lousy product. I guess I will find out if their customer service is as bad as I have read, because this piece of junk is going back.

Superior lap desk
By: Janice
February 16, 2009 @ 9:07 AM03pam2>
I’ve owned about 5 different lap desks, and this one is by far the best one. Yes it does have some flaws, you can’t design one that can do it all, but this one comes close.
All in all, i’m glad i bought this and have recommended to all my friends.

Arrived defective
By: Joan Peterson
February 9, 2009 @ 9:37 PM15ppm2>
The LapDawg arrived defective. Right out of the box, one of the buttons would not depress so it was impossible to adjust the angle of the leg, and thus impossible to use. The company did not respond to my e-mail or phone call about the problem. I am sending it back for a refund.

Lapdawg 30 day money back lie!
By: Stephen
January 29, 2009 @ 2:47 PM08ppm1>
I purchased a Lapdawg last November (2008). I was excited at the product and needed a tv tray device that would suit multiple needs. After I received it, I was dissappointed. Particularly with the height at full stick. I promply repackaged the product and shipped it back for my 30 day money back refund. Well, it’s be 2 months now and I have yet to have someone talk to me. I called the number and I am told that thier customer service can only take a message (the finincial dept. is in another building). Sounds and smells like *&^%$%! If they won’t give me my money back, they can at least send be the damn thing back. They can’t just have my money. I need leagal action. This company has dissappointed me with thier product and customer service.

very disappointed

I found it difficult to work with and very cheaply made for the price. I sent it back and no one will return my emails as to why I havent been refunded. I called the order line and they say there is no number for returns. You can only communicate by email…which they are not returning.

Cool product; breaks easily
By: Jonathan M
January 26, 2009 @ 9:56 PM16ppm1>
The two “Lows” of this product are notable. I had the LapdawgX4 less than a year before it broke. The movable joints are flimsy and one recently broke. Now it is worthless. There’s only a 30-day warranty for a reason, I guess. If they made a more durable product I’d buy another. The design is great.

Lasted nearly a year
By: Rob
December 29, 2008 @ 10:48 PM25ppm12>
My Lapdawg was very helpful for nearly a year while I worked from home, but a few days ago one of buttons locked up and that portion of the leg went into a free spin. It will not lock.
A friend of mine had this happen to his at about the same point of time of ownership. He was told to send it in after some initial trouble shooting over the phone. The last I heard was that the company said they never received the package but my friend had it tracked. Whatever, that’s his problem.
I wrote them and will wait them out a few days before I call.
Great product when it works.

Just got it out of the box
By: Bob
December 16, 2008 @ 6:15 PM13ppm12>
Interesting… I see ratings of 10, 2, 8, etc. I only have 1-5 stars to choose from on this website.
I cannot speak to its longevity because I just opened it up. I could imagine that with pressure on them, the hinges could fail. I plan to be careful not to lean heavily on it based on the earlier reviews here.
That said, I already really like it a lot. Why? Because I don’t see any other system that allows for an asymmetric setup of the legs. I lay length-wise on the couch and use my big TV as a computer monitor – bluetooth keyboard on the Lapdawg. I have one Lapdawg leg folded up on the cushion and the other extended down to the floor. If hinges are failing, then maybe they need to be more sturdy. However, I know the company is making improvements all the time because I was expecting wooden legs from earlier reviews that complained about them. However, the system I received is all aluminum (legs and table). So I am guessing that the company is receptive to the feedback they are receiving.
So time will tell about its longevity but as far as its utility, it is excellent!

Great accessory supplement
By: Gary Taylor
November 10, 2008 @ 9:50 AM22pam11>
I haven’t had any problems with my unit. Had it for about a year now, and i have to say it is one of the most useful laptop accessory to date. i’ve bought a levenger, breakfast tray, and even lap desk (padded) to help me work in my living room and none has been as comfortable.
A friend had recommend combining a wireless keyboard with the lapdawg. Combine the lapdawg and this ikey and becomes a world class computing setup.

Don't waste your money!
By: Steve M.
October 26, 2008 @ 12:44 AM30pam10>
I had my doubts right out of the box. It was very flimsy, wabbled and creaked, but i gave it the benefit of the doubt and did not return it. I did not realize the 30 day money back guarentee WAS the warrenty. One of the button hinges failed after 96 days of use, and a second hinge failed the next day. I called and emailed the company and they did not respond at all. Do not buy this or any other product from LapDawg.

Waste of money
By: Zahari Tzigularov

We purchased the laptop desk and at first it seemed like a great product. Just 37 days after we purchased it, however, one of the legs broke and it is no longer useful. Fortunately for them, it’s beyond their warranty so they don’t have to give us money back. I would caution anyone else out there not to waste your money.

great but not quite perfect yet
By: Kane
May 26, 2008 @ 8:17 PM09ppm5>
I have had the LapDawg X4 for about a month now. I use it for reading and working on my laptop in bed. It works great and has an amazing amount of versatility.
The only complaint is, like this review, I am not fond of the plastic joints for such an expensive lapdesk. There is a certain amount of flex, also, that makes the X4 slightly wobbly at times, though not bad. If this thing had a more robust, all metal construction, it would be worth it’s weight in gold (or even more since it is pretty light.) With the plastic joints and current spring locking mechanics, I sometimes wonder how long this desk will hold up. I don’t know, but as long as it does, I will be using it. And if they come out with an all metal X5, I will buy that one straight away. Almost perfect.

Lapdawg X4 - Got it and love it!
By: Koko Jake
April 28, 2008 @ 12:57 PM43ppm4>
I got it a couple of weeks ago and I’ve taken it to Florida with me, to Hawaii and Europe. It travels very well. Just remember to leave the joints unlocked in your suitcase, so the legs don’t get strained under the weight of 4 weeks of clothing.
So far I’ve bought one for 3 of my partners and 2 friends. They’re all avid insomniacs and love the ability to work from bed. Good stuff, LapDawg team! I find the 30 day guarantee is more than adequate. Especially for such a new product.
I’ve been following their website for a couple of months now. They keep improving on the design. So stay tuned, I can’t wait to see what these come out with next!

LapDawg X4 - Worth it?
By: Edmonds
April 24, 2008 @ 1:30 PM50ppm4>
My girlfriend bought this for me a 2 months ago, and I gotta say this is the best practical gift I have ever gotten from anyone in my life!
The article mentions that you don’t know how useful it is until you own one, and it’s so true. My first reactions to it when I opened it were mixed. The 130 price tag seemed a bit high to me (according to my girlfriend).
However, after using it for a few weeks, it’s absolutely life saving.
I recommend you buy a wireless keyboard with your laptop and lapdawg x4. The combo is absolutely amazing. I can compute in bed with the laptop beside me….there are so many ways to use it with a wireless keyboard.
I’m a student, and I really hate reading my notes and text in my desk. This thing allows me to do it in my bed, just like the website has pictures for. I love it!

LapDawg X4

I bought this before xmas, and has been great so far. The few complaints I have about it is that it’s not tall enough to use as a podium. Besides that, it fits the bill as a laptop holder.
