  1. Battery Issues
    Jo

I think there may be a defect with the phone itself, as I have read similar reviews that I’m experiencing.

I really like the phone – I haven’t had any issues putting music on it. My issues are all with the battery connection.

I’m on a replacement Fusic and have the same problems as the original which didn’t pop up until a few months into owning the original, so if you have a new phone you might not have these problems.

The phone turns off on its own, even when fully charged. When closing the phone it needs to be done slowly or it will turn off. The last phone would actually hang up while I was talking to people, again even while fully charged. Tonight I couldn’t get the phone to turn on without being plugged in, and it was fully charged. This lasted for about 30 minutes but now it’s working, for how long I’m not sure.

There’s never a problem when the phone is plugged in, but I need a cell phone not a home phone.

This is really unfortunate since I like the phone a lot (when it’s on).

  2. Kewl, But....

I dont know what all the b/s talk is about. This phone (LG Lx550 Fusic) is easy to use. You dont have to work for Nasa to be able to put music on it. I dont have the USB cable but i have a 1gb MicroSD card and the adapater to transfer music/video/photos to it. Just got a nxZEN 5500 Bluetooth for it. Didn’t know anything about it or how to get it to work…went into the Bluetooth setup in the phone and it found it right away….

    PROS:

    * Easy to get used to using.

    * Freak out your buddies in their car with the Music Transmitter. It actually works!

    * External Media Player buttons…Awesome!

    * Easy to customize(not buy) the faceplate. [mine is chrome right now]. :)

    * SpeakerPhone works…sometimes.

    * Light weight.

    CONS:

    * Letters on the buttons are kinda small, making it a bit hard to send txt.

    * Having to download RingTones. (Ha, yeah right)

    * SpeakerPhone could be a little louder.

    * My phone is white! lol

    * Stupid Antena nub gets annoying.

    * When you transfer photos to it they look like crap.

All in all, i nice phone for the price. (I dont know what they go for but i bought mine used for $50) :)

Sometimes the pure stupidity of my fellow man/women unnerves me…I mean (this is for the ones having trouble transferring music to the phone) it isn’t that hard…my five year old sister has one, and she can do it by herself, granted my whole families computer literate…but even if you are not this is simple stuff…just use your brains and figure it out, there really is no need for an instruction manual…it’s just like connecting a flash drive(oh and make sure your music is in mp3 format or it isn’t going to work that well.) Anyways point is its simple

  4. My opinion 7 months later....

I am happy with the part of the phone that I can actually use with ease…you know, that handy dandy part we use for communicating with others called THE PHONE. I also use the email features. However, I have been unable to find the time to sit down and study the entire 300 page manual twnenty times just to try to figure out just what magic wand it takes to download my music from my itunes selections or other similar sites online to this phone, or how to use the FM radio feature. I swear I am not completely stupid, however, I have not been successful thus far in doing so,and I refuse to pay $2 for every single song I care to download from the sprint website. So as you can imagine, my MP3 Player feature continues to remain completely silent and since I have no idea what it sounds like, I have no comment on that feature. None of my friends or their teens own Sprint phones, so they have no advice. Any friendly fellow Fusic owners, or even Sprint Reps like Nathan as seen above?, who care to share the “big secret” with me (so I can avoid eventually stroking out) it is much appreciated and Thanks!!!!

  5. I love the fusic

To start off, I am a Sprint rep. and have owned many phones. By far, the fusic is my favorite. Even with the new LG “Muziq” that just came out with the impressive touch screen and pretty lights, that is all that it is worth, it just looks like every other stupid phone out there that is copying the infamous LG “Chocolate”. However, there is not one phone out there right now that looks like the fusic. And for that reason, among many others i assure you, is why I prefer to have the fusic over any other phone.

  6. Fusic vs. Up Stage(in this case, Fusic wins)

    September 30, 2007 @ 12:32 PM

As an owner of the fusic, I know its awesome. A Sprint employee said the Fusic is ,by far, way better than the Up Stage. The Up Stage is difficult to work with, usually has little or no service, and is designed mainly for music. The Fusic has many qualities such as an FMradio tranmitter, has a music composer that allows you to make your own ring tone or just to listen to, has an impressive design, and is by LG! It doesn’t take a genius to tell Sprint to say goodbye to the Up Stage. I’d do it, but for the life of me I don’t know anyone who cares in this world, unless your convinced.

  7. Terrible
    Sinclair

    By: Sinclair
    September 2, 2007 @ 10:29 PM

I have owned this phone for 8 months. The first 3 months, I had no problems. However, now it turns itself off randomly, it doesn’t ring everytime a call comes in. It goes directly to VM, eventhough I have a full strength signal. Then I will be notified within an hour that I have a VM. Sprint says there is nothing wrong with the phone. LG wants to have it for 8-12 weeks to investigate if there is a problem, without sending a replacement phone. So no phone for 3 months, but I do get to continue to pay for cell service while it is gone.

The battery lasts less than 12 hours, even when it is fully charged.

Music transmitter sounds grainy when playing through car stereo. This feature drains the battery twice as fast.

MP3 player sounds like a scratched LP.

Long pause between pressing the capture button and taking the actual picture, so you almost always miss the shot.

All in all, crappy phone and crappy service.

I hate this phone and as soon as I can upgrade, it will be gone from my life. Not a day too soon!

If I could give this phone a “0″, I would

  8. It's not TOO bad.
    Donovan

    August 15, 2007 @ 10:52 AM

I just purchased my LG Fusic and quite frankly I’m a few notches above content. I love the music and phone integration concept and the LG fusic excercises that idea effortlessly. I have come to find a few dissapointments with this thrify piece of hardware though. The FM Transmitter idea is genius, but why didn’t it occur to someone to include an at least "decent" antenna range. The only way for me to enjoy music from my phone in my car is if I get out of the car and hold my phones antenna close to my car’s antenna. I am also displeased with the file sharing bluetooth technology that the Fusic is supposed to posess. I tried sending files from my bluetooth capapble mac to my phone and it would not except anything…no pix no music no documents…..made me wonder as to what was the point in even having bluetooth file-sharing as a listed capability of the Fusic. (Probably just to take up space in the Specs section, you know, to make it look good). Other than these mild short-comings I am pleased with my phone and I would actually recommend to someone else to have in their own posession.

This phone has been great. You don’t have to buy music and you can transmit it to any radio. The only thing I wish you could do is use the transmitter for the Sirius radio. Also I have not been able to find any flip cases for it. But all in all its a darn good phone.

  10. Not Mac friendly
    Gus

    August 7, 2007 @ 8:51 AM

Lots of volume on the spkr phone, great image quality for a phone, however movies not so great, and sound for movies not good at all, but hey…it’s a phone, not a camera. The display is orgasmically great. OK the bad side: just got the phone and I discovered by trial and error that it hates Macs. Neither the box nor the salesman say anything about that. So I went out and bought a USB transfer stick to see my movies and pictures, and it worked. Then I put music onto the micro card from my drive, a couple of mp’3’s. Guess what: THEY SOUND AWFUL! I think it’s called aliasing, but I’m not sure there. The instructions are overly simplified which is unusual for techno gadgets of this sort, so there is no helpful trouble shooting section. If you wanna find, say, mp’3 in the index, it ain’t there. (That’s why I’m on the web at this site now, looking for answers) The manual has no indication of a website for tech info.

It’s novel features do outweigh its "frustrating failures". I have had this phone for a while now and I use the FM music transmitter all the time, whether I am just hanging out or in the car. It really isn’t hard to put music on this phone, you don’t even have to buy any, you can take it from music already exsisting on your computer. All you have to do is drop music into the Fusic’s music folder, its actually kind of idiot proof. I find the Fusic to be a pleasurable phone.

As a couple of the other reviewers – I too have been a long time Sprint customer. I bought this phone for my wife as a replacement for her Sanyo 8200 – and combining MP3 capability. (her OLD MP3 Player weighed in at about 10 ounces… )This phone has it all!

Oh yeah – the defining moment was when she was browsing the games… HEY THIS HAS MS.PACMAN ;< on it.

    Phone clarity is good.

    Music Clarity is good.

Transferring music files is EASY -

    Connect the phone USB cable

In the phone menu – TOOLS

    Then select USB Flash Drive

Your PC should then recognize the drive as a new removable drive.

Also – I bought a program called SoundTaxi that allowed me to convert my purchased Itunes music to MP3.

The user manual indicates that only microSd cards up to 1gb are supported… but someone else in the forum indicated they are using 2Gb… Thanks for the info – I’ll have to give it a shot!

On a scale of 1-10: this phone is a 50!!!

I’ve been with Sprint for a long time now and the phone I had before I got the Fusic was cool, but it was old. No camera, no music player. The only thing I could do was browse Sprint’s free internet and play games. Then I decided to bite the bullet and get a new phone when I came across this one. I played with it in the store for a while and then I went ahead a purchased it. That was about 6 weeks ago and the only thing I don’t like so far is that I dropped it and now it’s got a couple scratches on it. I love this phone!! I just got a 2GB card for it and now I can take more than 7000 pics in VGA and I have more than 8 hours video recording time!! I can take almost 4000 pics in 1.3 MP mode. This phone is awesome. I love how I can listen to my music and take a call then get right back to my music. I also love watching TV on it and playing games. This is the coolest phone I could ever have and I don’t think I’ll be needing another one. As a certified tech junkie, this phone gets a 10!

I just got this phone and I really like it but…. How do you download songs from you computer? There are plenty of instructions on how to buys songs from Sprint but none on how to load your own music. I even called Sprint and they said they couldn’t help.Bottom line is the phone is great, but Sprint is the worst company America when it comes to customer service. I have nothing good to say about Sprint!!

I got this phone when I lost my previous one at an airport. So far, the only thing I don’t like about it is that I’ve dropped it and scratched it. Other than that, I love this phone. The FM transmitter is great, the microSD is wonderful, and reception is good. All in all, the best phone I’ve ever had.

It broke after 3 months with little abuse. The key pad began messing up ex. i press the 3 button and the calculator pops up. As of now I can only receive calls because the talk button is the only one that works, so text messages forget about it. I had an old sanyo phone, dropped it off a four story building. Put the battery back in and it worked just fine. Moral of the story the Fusic is weak!

I think it’s function is superb and every professional review of it has praised it. I think its kind of the first of its kind, so of course there is going to be improvement down the road. But right now its pretty simple. I have used it in my car via transmitter and the speakerphone works great as well! I wish the headset cord was a little shorter and right now finding a stereo blue tooth is a challenge, but I am thinking of going with the Jabra BT320s…anyway, I think it is a great phone! We will see what happens in 2 months…I will keep you posted

This phone is great for 2 months, then its screen craps out on you, then you get to go spend 50 bucks to have it replaced, to have the same thing happen only 2 months later. Now what? go spend another 50 for the same phone? That isn’t going to happen!

I had a treo 600. It was great. But when it broke the 700p I got just wouldn’t sync, crashing multiple times. The fusic was the best phone sprint is offering presently that does seem to work. FM transmitter works well for me, the mp3’s transfer fine to the phone and the mp-3 player sounds great with my shure ear phones. If anyone knows how I can transfer my palm datebook and contacts to the phone, it would be perfect. I’ll just use this one until the 680 comes out.

Sound quality is good. I like the speaker phone. To transfer files from a PC to the phone, it is as simple as plugging the included USB cable into the phone and the PC, then drag files to the phone much like dragging from something from one drive to another. It is really easy. Just make sure a MicroSD card is inserted or you will not have enough available memory in the phone to add files.
