This is a great performing phone with nice features. It’s a little old fashioned looking for sure and the stub antenna is something that should have been eliminated by 2006. The lights on the cover are great and very useful when the sound is turned off. So I hope they update this phone style-wise keeping all these great features. Clear sound and long lasting battery. Very good product.

  2. Great Phone with weak battery and charger

I love the features of this phone. The blue tooth and voice command are great! Never expected to use the camera/video feature, but found it very handy for on the spot candid shots.

Wife has same phone. Both batteries have deteriorated to the point where the phones are unuseable. We have new batteries on the way. Three chargers do not work now…so I’m hoping that it is a battery problem?

I have had my 8100 for only a few months, my wife has an identical one. I do really like the phone and its features; I find the battery to more than what I need.

I have had problems with it shutting itself off and turning on again. Not too big of a deal unless you are in a call or texting (you lose the text data) finally it just froze; it would turn on but do nothing. I sent it in to get fixed and they did fix it, and pretty quick too I might add. It was fine for a while but I have sent in away again as now there seems to be some problem with the sound, as in there isn’t any! Nothing from the earpiece and nothing from the speakers either. No ringing, no songs, no beeps, and most important no voice when a call comes in.

My wife has never had any problem with her phone and she loves the phone and all the features. So I don’t know what to tell you I guess some units of this phone are really good and some are not!

Happy with the phone other than the fact that you can not set downloaded ringtones for your messages..very upset about that but other than that awesome phone.

Upgraded from very old Motorola in January. Had to buy phone charger as battery would die/weaken quickly. Now I get 3-5 minutes on a phone call before battery dies after full recharge. Today, phone died within 7 hours of full recharge and not even used. It’s alarm clock function is useful. Camera is good. Messaging options great. Irritated that I have to buy different, non-annoying ringtones, but I guess that’s every phone these days.

I’ve had this for about a week and no problems yet. I agree with the first review, buy a mini-sd for it so it can hold lots o’ music, but don’t buy it from verizon. You can get one for much cheaper online at places like newegg.

Buy one gig Mini-SD for $60, car charger, usb cable and extra battery for $16 (with shipping!) from ebay. There is a special 2.5 to 3.5 converter off Amazon for $4 so you can use it as an aux-in for your car stereo. Browse around the wibbly web and learn about tethering, bitpim, tunebite, and other neat tricks for the phone.
Yeah, voice commands suck. Should be easier. But considering how this can be a one-gig MP3 player, in addition to it having a camera, evdo, mini-light, watch your own videos, etc, I like it quite a bit.

Battery life? C’mon, with all that functionality, the juice has to come from somewhere and it’s a small one. The video could be longer… I’d rank this as a bigger gripe than the voice commands. Each 15second clip of video is 177KB… seems there should be a way to change 15seconds to 15minutes, especially with the one gig mini-sd.

Better phones are on the way… oh and the 8x zoom is nothing special, just digital. No optical zoom. And the flash is really just an led, not a true *flash*. Dark and bright settings work good though.

  9. OK phone but that's it

Voice command system is very poor. The “voice” sounds like she has a mouth full of marbles. Bluetooth works but with the poor audio, for me, it is worthless. Buy a different phone or wait until they improve the software and voice for the unit.
