Problem with freezing

This mouse worked great for about 1 1/2 years. Now it freezes every minute or so. Totally useless now for game play. I would not buy another Logitech product.

Logitech G7 Mouse

I have had this mouse for four years now. My rechargeable batteries are still great and I use my computer constantly. I did however have difficulty in that the receiver went bad last month and caused my screens to freeze. When I contacted Logitech, they offered to replace it if I send the base back. I will probably just buy a new one because then I will have extra batteries and mouse onhand. I love this mouse.

Takes a Lickin' and keeps on Tickin'

I purchased this mouse three years ago after having my G5 stolen at a lan party.
Absolutely a good product that could be great if Logitech only had stock on the lithium Ion batteries that fail after a year or two of gaming use.

Probably the best wireless gaming mouse.

I’ve had this one for over a year as well. I think the ergonomics are near perfect. I have had two somewhat major problems occur with this mouse but they can be remedied. First for some reason when I plug in the wireless usb receiving plug directly into the charger (like it is supposed too) then I can’t recharge the battery like I want too even on normal charge. So, I need to use up 2 usb ports on my PC to use this mouse correctly. Also, after about a year the scrolling mouse wheel started losing its precision. I had to take apart the mouse (4 Phillips head screws on bottom) and the entire scroll wheel (1 screw) to clean the entire mouse wheel. After doing this though my mouse is just like brand new!

PS: Some people say you have to take off the sticky pads to open this mouse. Screw that I just found something pointy and punctured tiny hole where the screw holes are and then used the correct size Phillips head (small top 2 holes, slightly larger for bottom 2 holes) to unscrew as much as I could. With the battery out I could then separate the two halfÃ’s with a little force. Clean and youÃ’re good to go!! I notice no diff in smoothness of my mouse after doing this.

A fine mouse, but not perfect

The Logitech G7 is great. Very comfortable, uncomplicated (a good thing) and very portable (there is a detatchable USB stick for this).
However, the battery life is terrible. I find myself swapping batteries every day or so with normal use. Yes, the dual batteries and charger make this easy, but is is still a hassle.

I’ve had it for over a year and to be honest I’ve only just realised how much I love it. Sounds odd but I think that’s a mark of how good it is, I don’t even notice it it’s so intuitive and comfortable.

Peice of crap
By: Toxic Ninja
July 24, 2007 @ 10:34 AM14pam7>
I was updating to a wireless gamer mouse from my razer copperhead, no problems with the copperhead, I just wanted wireless. Anyway it worked fine for about 7 months after which all these problems flew around, the battery holds like 20 min of play tops with its 3 hour charge, worthless, also the fact its wireless kicks in after a while, the data transfer decreases over time so first its very precise and fast then it becomes a little sluggish and now its just crap. I totally don’t recommend this mouse, I went back to my razer copperhead which never had any problems. Keep in mind I play a minimum of 10 hours a day so at 5 hours a day it’ll last you a year. If you plan on playing allot don’t get this mouse, get a razer, but if you are planning on only 1-2 hours a day tops then go ahead, waste your money.

Not as Responsive anymore
By: Michael
July 23, 2007 @ 1:08 PM38ppm7>
I’ve had the G7 for about 8 months now. When I first bought it it worked really good and I was impressed as a hardcore gamer, the quality of this mouse was great. However within the last few weeks the sharpness of the mouse has dramatically decreased making it hard for me to shoot in the games. For example, left clicking while shooting in "Counter-Strike" is not as responsive as before. I click and sometimes it does not shoot. The responsiveness of the movement has also decreased making it hard to move and making it easier for other players to anhiliate my ingame character. Other than that…battery life has been pretty good..better than my old mx1000 and its definetly not as heavy which is also pretty good.

May 27, 2007 @ 12:46 PM29ppm5>
I’ve had mine for 1 year now. Never had any probs with it what so ever maybe the short battery on it but then I just change it with the 1 in the recharger.
It’s verry comfy on the hand and the big pads makes it slide easily
10 out of 10 pitty it cant be any higher, and for those that don’t get any signal, then you’ve prolly broken it and thats your fault.

Had my G7 for around 6months, then after 5months the battery problems started. They only hold charge for an hour or so and take at least 24 hours solid recharge before ready. No good. Pitty as its the best mouse ive ever had when working

Dead batteries and no signal
By: San Diego Local
May 1, 2007 @ 5:49 PM41ppm5>
I have no signal when I use it on my wireless networked computer and there is a high data transfer rate. I also have dead batteries, both in the same week. They both refuse to charge and Logitech support claims they are defective and offered me a MX revolution as a replacement. Logitech support has said this item is at the end of its lifetime and they are not offering replacements. Sounds like this product is being quietly recalled, at least only for users that are complaining. I rate this a 1 because after 4 months it is a brick: batteries only hold 10 minutes of juice and it takes 4 hours to charge them that much.

Pretty good - but go with the G5 -

I bought the G7 and have been reasonably happy. Changing the battery is a pain and I often get intermittent signal – so the advantage of being wireless is negated by these issues. Get the wired version (G5) its heaps more responsive and hassle free (and cheaper to boot!).

I don’t know what everyone is talking about? The battery Life on my G7 is great. Mind you it looks nothing like the photos on this page. Mine is black with Carbon Fiber. I Game for a few hours each day and use my PC for other things as well. Haven’t changed my battery in 2 days.

This mouse stopped working properly for me after about two months. The batteries die way too fast, especially if you’re a hardcore gamer. I can’t even go a whole day without having to switch them. Even when I do switch them out, they always fail to be full charged. Yeah, it tracks nice, but I’d take my old wireless optical mouse any day of the week.

Absolutely tops.

I’ve been using the G7 for the past 2 months, and it’s a hell of a jump from a standard corded optical mouse. I was absolutely blown away with the smoothness and the ability to change the DPI on the mouse with a simple click of a button.
I don’t mind having to change the battery every day, seeing as it only takes about 5 secs to do so, so you can change it mid-game without worrying about being fragged.
The Teflon coating on the bottom of the mouse makes it so smooth that it practically glides all over the mouse-pad, no sticking to the pad.
The software and drivers provided are also excellent, no known issues or problems with either. I’m also impressed with the lack of lag when using the mouse, which i was expecting from a wireless.
For any people out there that want the best gaming mouse, i would seriously recommend buying the G7, it’s worth every cent.

Best mouse i've ever used
By: eric
January 11, 2006 @ 11:02 PM02ppm1>
I’ve been using this mouse for about a month now. I replaced my MX1000 with it and I must say that it’s the best mouse I’ve ever used. It is glass smooth, even better than the MX1000. At first I missed the lack of the forward and middle thumb button, which have been replaced by a single button. I realize though that the single button is placed where I do not need to shift my hand to hit it, and the forward and middle buttons DID require a hand shift. So their removal isn’t a complete loss as the single button is more comfortable to use. Contrary to what the last review said, I AM able to program the tilt wheel, and have the left and right tilt bound to functions that I previously used the forward and middle thumb buttons on the MX1000. The setpoint software is excellent, making assigning new functions easy. In fact, the only thing keeping this mouse from earning a perfect 10 is the fact that the charge in the batteries doesn’t last all that long (I’m finding I must switch once per day)

Superb Wireless Mouse
By: Jon Willis
January 8, 2006 @ 4:43 PM48ppm1>
Just like the excellent g5 mouse. Only feature it doesnt have is a adjustable weight however its slot is replaced by a lithium battery of the exact same size as the weight holder of the G5. battery life in constant use is about 8-10hours after a couple of charges.
When pc is on you can use boost mode and charge your 2nd battery that is supplied within 2 hours, or normal mode which si 10 hours but can be done with pc on or off.
No lag at all with ti been wireles which is what is needed for a gaming mouse. The change-able DPI can be a godsend in some FPS games, espically bf2 for turning the tank turrets faster.
Only disadvantage i find so far is the tilt wheel doesnt have much use, its the only button that cannot be re-programmed as a normal key so it cannot be used in any games. However this is 1 drawback of what must be the best mouse in the world!
p.s. 2000 DPI is more than enough for any gamer, 2400 mice you can find about at a similar price wont have the G5-7 features and the extra 400DPI doesnt jusity the costs
n.b. to web reviewer/poster, please spell check before posting, i was in a rush.

As a mouse it functions so smooooothly – compared to my current MX700. However I have had unresolved difficulties trying to assign even the simplest of functions, namely forward and backward browsing within Firefox 1.5. No big deal, but for a top of the range product I would expect better
