These speakers certainly punch out a good sound, but the bass is boomy and overpowering at 1/4 and above volume, clarity is excellent and detailed with good image focus and balanced mid range, even though there is bass attenuation on the remote the lack of treble is disappointing, much needed with headphones.
There is better out there for this price range.

I had made a quick decision when buying the Z-4 speakers. As I couldn’t wait for them to get here, I probably read almost every review posted and was convinced that I had made a good decision. Three or four days later they arrived…. and all I’ve got to say is they sound really good, especially for their size. I read the satellites were bigger than some had expected, which led me to think they were going to be really big. But they ended up being the perfect size I had imagined from the beginning. The bass is better than I thought it would be, based from some of the reviews others left. These are the speakers to get if you have a good ear for music.

Perfect sound for a 2.1 system.

I have been using my Z-3, which is the precedant of Z-4, for a number of years. No complaint for its sound quality. When it is connected to a PC with a better sound card and a sound program (even the most basis one) that you could use to adjust different bands of sound, or set EQs, its performance is just perfect. I always play my music loud (disco, pop, classical…..) and I enjoy the sound from these speakers a lot. The Z4 seems to me to be better in that it has the sub’s volume control migrated to the ‘remote’ control. I highly recommend this product.

I have had nothing but joy from my Z4’s. The frequency response range is impressive, sound is tight, sub has independent bass crossover control. Very impressed considering I managed to grab them for under $80 AUD brand new. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

I bought them about a week ago, took them home, plugged them in, turned them on and oh my! Its a masterpiece! Great sound quality, clear strong bass. There is one disadvantage though. The satelite speakers do not have covers so you can easily prod or poke them by accident and damage them. Everything else is perfect. Good job Logitech.

Not an 8" woofer...
By: steen
April 14, 2008 @ 11:38 PM42ppm4>
To say that the Z4 has an 8″ subwoofer is stretching reality. It is a 4th (or 5th) order “pressure” alignment with an internal 3″-4″ woofer (depending on revision) & front mounted 8″ passive ABR. That’s why LF extension is lacking & bass is generally a bit woolly. An isobaric 5.25″ or at least a proper 6.5″ woofer in a reasonable sized box is required for even semi-reasonable bass…

If you`re looking for the perfect 2.1 speaker setup don`t look any further than the Z-4. With 40watts RMS power and 80watts peak, the Logitech Z-4 definitely lives up to its expiations. I’ve hooked it up to my PS3 and the sound is amazing. Over all its good value for its money.

This is probably one of the most overlooked and underrated systems for it’s price range. Retail demo setups of this system may not do it justice. It sounds much better at home than it does in the store. Crisp, clear sound and more than adequate bass are what you get for your money. Aesthetics for this system are also better than most, in my opinion, as it not only looks good, but is well coordinated with most new PC’s that have a black/silver theme. Setup, out of the box, is straightforward and only takes minutes. Overall, it’s a good value.

I have heard many computer speakers and I believe that this is one of the best overall products out there. The sound from these speakers is crystal clear and I especially like the adjustable bass on the remote. The sub woofer really packs a punch and the highs are amazing. I have heard many systems which focus too much on bass and everything else is overwhelmed, but the bass in this system compliments the mids and treble perfectly. I love listening to music with these speakers; keep up the good work logitech!
The only problem i could find was that the wired remote seems a little too big, but this is just nit picking.

PROS: Excellent sound quality, sub level on the remote, modern look, cheap!
CONS: Sub lacks a LITTLE ‘oompf’ (not much though!)
I brought this system to listen to music, play the odd DVD or game and to upgrade my laptop speakers. I read many reviews and found them very useful in choosing my product. This system was by far the best and I have found nothing wrong with it. The sub kicks out plenty of bass even at low volumes. I havnt taken the volume past 10 oclock (it starts at 7) as the bass becomes too strong! The treble output and mid range is also brilliant. There is no overcompensation of bass which blocks out the treble at any setting. I have found there are only a few occasions where the range from bass to midrange isnt fully accounted for, but this is very rare and only on drum and bass tracks! The price of this unit was also great! It was relatively cheap but performs at a standard that you would expect to pay at least £100 for. Overall I recommend these speakers as they play at a great level and give a full, rich sound at any volume.

The best in class 2.1 speakers
By: Terence

I bought a demo room Z-4i since that was the only white color available. I tested with classic, Jazz, movies, and even one game from our kids. The qaulity is very impressive! The sounds are very clear. While listening to Kenny G the bass gives very precise tone even at high volume. I can hear some very tiny with great clarity sounds from movies that I could not from my monitor speakers. For 2.1 speakers that priced under 100 USD or euro, several PC shop sales men told me this is THE choice. The price is definitely worthy. I used to assemble speakers when studied in the university, so I know the Z-4 is great ones! No doubt. For this great quality, I will surely enjoy a long while before stepping into 5.1 speakers.
