I bought this system late spring of 2004. Perfect match in my office design and great sound performance since then. Love the sound, I wouldn’t change it, even the control unit never broke my heart.

  2. THE WORST SPEAKERS ON THE MARKET

THESE ARE THE WORST SPEAKERS YOU CAN EVER FIND. WHEN I BOUGHT THEM AFTER 1 DAY THE LEFT SPEAKER GOT DAMAGED AND STARTED TO MAKE STRANGE NOISES, GLITCHES, AND CRACKS ETC. AFTER A FEW DAYS THE BUFFER JUST STOPPED TO WORK WHILE I WAS LISTENING TO MUSIC. NEVER BUY THESE SPEAKERS.

I bought these about a year, maybe 2 ago I forget .. but i’ve just noticed a rattle inside the subwoofer and I dont yet know wether it is the driver or just something loose in there. Otherwise GREAT sound system , but myself I would prefer BIGGER

Well, this set outclasses all in this price range. Couldn’t be happier with the Z3. Fairly heavy sattelite speakers. So no irritating vibrations. Design is nice ( I got the wooden version ) the Z3 gives a nice bass in my opinion. If you’re thinking about buying a decent 2.1 speaker set i would recommend you buy the Logitech Z3.

The interface cable between the subwoofer and the speakers as well as the control unit is the main element of the design. I broke one of the pins on the connector during installation and my system is in the garbage now. Make sure you keep your receipt or secure the interface cable carefuly. Very bad engineering. I called Logitech and there are not replacing the unit. very disappointed.

These sound very good especially for ppl who like mp3′z. The only thing that i think Logitech did wrong was not porting the wooden box, the bass is still delivered but with some rattle.

    Sattelites:
Excellent construction. Cast metal bases do a very good job at dampening vibration. Aluminum plug driver is very crisp.

    Boxed Woofer:
Not really a Sub, persay. Not really a woofer, either. This hybrid unit gets its punch from the 8″ driver, and a fully enclosed cabinet. The system’s only warmth also comes from this cabinet, but is lost due to excessive crossover circuit separation.

    Overall:
Audible bass is projected well enough via the exposed speaker. Some muddiness occurs, as well as a scooped lower-mid. Heavy rock songs can require some inventive EQ settings to sound full and balanced. Even with “Sub” volume set to min, it can overpower the sattelites when at a lower listening volume. Some reverse engineering reveals that a well placed 1-1/4″ hole in the side of the “Sub” unit can assist the lower-mid warmth, without destroying the low-end punch.

I heard this pair on a mate at work and went and bought a set for home the next day. I think the bass is too loud even on the minimum setting, but the satellites have a superb quality.

This speaker set is not suited for all kinds of music. If you set these speakers to radiate directly towards you, they produce extremely focused stereo picture, being so small and all that. However, most music isn’t mixed to be listened with quite that sort of setup, and the result can sound quite displeasing. Turning the speakers away from you a little helps then, to get some room reflections. Also, the bass is so loud that I placed the bass unit on top of a pillow with the speaker firing into the pillow, just to take the edge off it!

But by my experience, this setup rocks for gaming and DVD playback. Dialogue is crystal clear, gunshots and explosions are impressive. Very enjoyable, superb return for money (costs about 80 euros in Finland).

After the Cyber Acoustics CA 355o, this is like heaven on earth, very nice and tight bass which only feels smoother with every passing day. No, they won’t shake your walls and make your neighbors call 911, but they certainly pack a good punch for the average listener. I would recommend this mostly for people who live in apartment buiildings that have pesky neghbors, however if you need earth-shattering sound, I would suggest a more premium system like the Z-2200 (2.1) or the Z-5300 (5.1).

  10. muddy bass - lack of bass control

Bought them and they don’t sound as good as in the stores. I find that the bass is boomy , muddy and inconsistent. Powerbass or whatever it’s marketed as should make it more punchy, not muddled on such a small woofer. Perhaps a burn in issue, perhaps defective as the bass control can be wholly off, yet there is still a fair amount of bass being output from the sub.

Purchased these speakers based on several reviews at site like this. Unboxed them yesterday and have so far been unimpressed. The sound isn’t BAD, but it isn’t good either… tinny highs, boomy, muddy bass, poorly defined detail. Perhaps it’s an issue of burn-in, maybe my soundcard needs an upgrade, not sure.

This set of speakers has, according to me, the best price-quality relation. The sound these little things produce is better than my own heavy stereo set !!!
This is absolutely a recommander to buy !!!!!

I just purchased a set of Logitech Z3 speakers and am very impressed with the sound quality. No they aren’t anything like Bose, but they are on my work computer and cost under $100. The bass response is great. The only con I found is that the factory installed wires could be longer.
