My TV is 2 years old and I am replacing the lamp for the 4th time. There is no dust/dirt build up but still blows every 7-8 months. Talking to Mitsubishi is a complete waste of time. They keep telling me that they don’t know of any problems but the websites about the class action lawsuits are numerous so someone must know something!

There is a design flaw- thermal sensor will fail on earlier made units. They extended the warranty to three years for this and it’s a very easy/quick fix.

Picture- phenomenal cannot be beat. Give yourself enough distance- don’t buy too big for your room or the silk screen effect on the whites will be more noticeable.

Appearance- cool looking, sleek, sometimes the piano black glossy bezel has reflections. Screen is very good about anti-glare.

Bulbs- yes they are expensive, but easy to replace. Take the bulb housing out occasionally and clean out the screens. The dust will prevent the airflow to the bulb causing premature failure. .

So basically, TAKE CARE OF IT and you’ll be OK. It’s a high-tech piece of equipment, not an indestructible CRT.

My lamp recently went out and I am outside of the warranty by 6 days. I called customer service and have been transferred around so many times I can’t count. So finally I asked to talk to a supervisor, and they said no. Finally after 10 tries, they are going to have a supervisor call me back, but who knows when. After all this, I’m not sure I would ever buy from Mitsubishi again.

7 months after buying the TV the lamp went out. Fortunately it was covered by warranty. It has now been 3 months since having the bulb replaced and it went out again! We bought a Mitsubishi because we wanted a good quality TV and we PAID for it! I guess we should have gone to Wal-Mart!

Yeah my bulb burnt out. I got it replaced for free though since we only had it 6 months. This was brought on by dust clogging the back. Instructions should specify that intake vent is on the back on the side. This won’t be a problem now that I know about it. Otherwise, the picture quality is the best I’ve seen w/ the 180 watt bulb.

I purchased this TV in October 2006. We love the picture. It is simply outstanding. However, we were away from home from early June until early September 2007, during which time the TV was not operated. In early December the lamp burned out!

I replaced it at a cost of about $265.00, including sales tax. The replacement was not difficult, but I could have bought a large plasma that supposedly will last for 8-10 years for the price I paid, plus the lamp replacement costs over that same period.

We’ve had this TV for about six-7 months and we’ve been having continuous problems with it regarding the bulb/lamp. The status indicator keeps coming on indicating that there is not enough airflow to the tv and that the room temp is too hot. We have to keep a small fan blowing directly into the back of the tv just to keep it from turning iyself off. And now, the lamp is burning out as well. Certainly it isnt worth what we paid for it. TOO MANY PROBLEMS!!!!

Have had this Mitsubishi for 6 months and the bulb went out. Bulb is pricey along with the TV and not a long life span.
