I have the freezing problem and the battery last only about 2 hrs after a full charge. I have regretted buying it after the first month. Very slow, not very many applications.

This is the worst cell phone I’ve ever owned. Never in my life have I had to perform so many master resets. I will never own a Motorola phone again.

I’ve had this phone since August and I totally hate it, it shuts down constantly…I have tried all the so-called fixes (master reset, taking the battery out, not letting the charge go down to below 2/3, which is ridiculous), but nothing works and it’s out of warranty, though the network is great (I get reception everywhere), the voice quality is terrible, there is an echo for the first few minutes of every call…..it also doesn’t play nice with outlook calendar, which is the reason I bought it, I ordinarily LOVE Motorola phones, but I’m very disappointed with this one.

I have had this phone for about 3 weeks now and while I do like some of the Windows mobile applications better than the BlackBerry 8830 that I replaced, overall this phone sucks. I constantly have slow connections, the phone will shut off by itself when the battery is fully charged and I have to remove the battery and reset the phone and/or do a master reset. As of today the phone will turn on, shows the Verizon logo and then freezes on a white screen. I am sick of messing with this and did not have any issues with my BlackBerry. The only reason I changed to this phone was because I was eligable for an upgrade and wanted a device with a camera. what a mistake.

Whenever the battery is running low on this phone it shuts itself off. Normal, right? However, it doesn’t turn back on. It goes to the opening screen and will not progress to the start menu. This has happened twice and I’ve had the phone less than 3 months. When I called tech support they said I had to do a master reset on the phone, deleting all my contacts, pictures, videos, SMS messages, and calendar appointments. Essentially back to factory settings. This is completely unacceptable and I do not recommend this phone at all.

So, seriously this is the worst phone I have ever owned!!! I am now on my 5th phone of this model and spent half of today talking verizon into giving me a different phone. I have had so many things go wrong with it, its not even funny. The electronic sound device, pixels going out, freezing up, losing emails and photos. It is so annoying.

I’ve had this phone for five days and feel I nearly have it mastered. No problems with crashing. You have to use some basic computing common sense. Don’t tax your processor or your memory past 75% you have to set your task manager as your primary program and run after you exit out of a program. If the phone is running sluggishly no doubt you have multiple programs running in the background. It doesn’t take but a second to load these programs so there is no reason to have two or three of them running simultaneously. Buy a memory disk at least 2 gigs and save all of your files to it and not your drive as it is small. I love the GPS chip and have already installed two programs that make it a functioning TOM TOM and a “Sky Caddie” (golf GPS Rangefinder) Though it took a little while to get it set up it is also subscription music compatible with sites such as Rhapsody and Yahoo (though I believe yahoo no longer offers this service to new customers) The speakers on the phone are excellent and provided it is sitting next to you on your desk while you are working it plays well enough to listen. The speaker phone is clear; no one has even asked if I have them on speaker (a constant compliant from my friends when I was using my previous Treo). The phone reception is great. The text message doesn’t post to chat boxes like Treo does, it more closely resembles email. Setting up the email on my Treo was a nightmare, this phone took literally seconds. The keyboard is the best I’ve ever used. I recommend you look up a review for the Mot Q9C on You Tube as it provides a great “how to” on using this phone.

I have the Moto Q and have had nothing but bad luck with the device. I received the phone 4 days ago and all of the sudden it wouldn’t power on. Also, the phone froze all of the time and it was just a pain. So, today I go to my service providers store and they give me a brand new Moto Q out of the box…now that phone is acting up. Funny thing is though, there was a guy 2 people down from me at the store with the same exact phone and the same exact problems I was having…So, needless to say, now that my new Moto Q isn’t working right I called my service provider and I am getting a completely different phone.

My advice on the Moto Q: DON’T WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY WITH THIS DEVICE!!!

I got the new Q9m for Valentine’s Day and then 3 days later it broke and I wasn’t able to turn it on. I brought it back to the store and they gave me a new one I have had this one for 4 days now and everything is fine. I love the phone. The full keyboard is my favorite. I thought it would be hard to get use to be it really wasn’t it took me all of one day to get use to it. The only thing about it is I can’t seem to find out where to get the ringtones which I could live without.

  12. Very Nice Phone

While I don’t consider myself a “power” smart-phone user (this is my 1st), I do consider myself a gadget freak and power computer user.

This phone was very easy to use after reading the instruction manual, but a little difficult to figure out some things I tried to learn on pure trial-and-error.

The ActiveSync worked flawlessly on the first try – from installation of the drivers & application, to running the first synchronize. Both home PC and work PC were easy to utilize with ActiveSync.

Windows Mobile 6 is pretty easy to navigate, and loading the included 128mb MicroSD flash card (w/MiniSD adapter – nice!) was a snap. Being that the card storage is so small, it only held a single CD of mp3s and a dozen small WMV videos. A 2 GB MicroSD card is on the way (4 GB and 8 GB are available!).

Ringtones were easy to set up, phone configuration was a snap, although there are TONS of settings to tinker with (and potentially mess up!).

Overall, a VERY strong smart-phone and VERY good media player. Bluetooth Stereo makes a nice addition for using with your car or wireless headset.

Great phone! I went from a Treo 650, which I loved dearly, to this phone, and I couldn’t be happier. The syncing is less of a pain than with Palm products I have had in the past. Ringtones are easier to get. It is true, there is no GetItNow, but GetItNow you had to buy the song to use it. Any song that you may have purchased that you have on your computer can be turned into a ringtone by simply plugging the phone’s USB cable into your computer and simply click-and-dragging it over into your “My Ringtones” folder.

Large videos tend to stutter the video feed, but the audio is fine. I resized my videos from a full screen display to match the 320×240 and it works beautifully, granted it isn’t a long video (a 19 minute video is highest tested, worked fine).

Internet works fast compared to the Treo 650 I was using, which made me really happy. One draw back is, with me, I have the unlimited data plan, so I use it for long durations, and combined with calls, messages, and media usage, the battery drained quickly. Shorter than a day. If you get this phone and plan on doing more than just having it for calls and a little messaging, I recommend the extended battery, which will last me two or three days with no charging.

Other than that, it is a near perfect phone!

I got my Moto Q 9m 3 days ago. It’s a pretty nice phone, but some major drawbacks. You can’t download games like with the other Verizon phones. And I haven’t yet accessed getitnow to get new ringtones, because it’s so hard to find. I’m wondering if it even supports it. I can’t seem to sync it to active sync either, and it’s the phone, not my computer, seeing as it won’t sync to any of my friends computers either. Confusing phone, I want my enV back.

I replaced my phone with a Motorola Q 9m on Monday. It wouldn’t read the flash. Took it back to Verizon for a replacement. The second Motorola Q would turn off randomly. I took that back yesterday and received my third Motorola Q. Everything was fine until this morning when I tried to make a phone call. It froze for about 3 minutes and wouldn’t respond to the keypad at all.

It finally went back to the media menu and when I pushed the soft key for “start” it turned off!! I haven’t made up my mind which phone to switch to.

I love my q9m. No problems with it freezing. All you do is go to task and kill all apps every now and then. I use it to check email daily, text and send pics. The camera on it is awesome. The battery that came with it lasted for less than a day but i got a free replacement and now it last at least for 3 days. The browser works very well and downloading apps are easy. The best thing is being able to listen to internet radio on it. I even have the headphone jack go to my Avic-z1 head unit in my car and I get internet radio in the car..forget satellite radio, I get thousands of stations. The speaker on it works great and is loud. There are plenty of features that can be adjusted from the theme to audio enhancement, to picture editing, and doc viewers. The phone is wider that most cell phones as are most smartphones but you don’t look like you have a pda when you are talking on it since its very stylish. The reception is great too. I ended up paying only $50 for it oo since Verizon had it for 199 on the website. The store matched the price and then took off the $100 credit you get every two years and they had a $50 rebate. I had a motorola before and didn’t care for it since the speaker sucked and it would randomly turn off. No such problems with the q9m though. I love it.

I think that the people on here dont realize if you don’t want your phone to freeze on you every so often after you open a bunch of programs you must go to the task manager and cancel the programs you arent using, your phone will run a lot faster after doing this. Overall this phone has been nothing but amazing.

This might be the most un-user-friendly phone I’ve ever owned. Never mind freezing screens, it spontaneously turns off all the time. Tech support is great, but I’ve called them daily for a week. I’ve had this for just over a month and can’t wait to get rid of it. No one seems to know how to make it work the way it should. It shouldn’t be that hard.

I have had this phone for a little over a month and I see that it may not be the fastest on the internet but people are saying its freezing up and mine does too but only when I have 8 and 9 tasks running so I go to task manager and close running programs I’m not using and its like new…and for the screen completely freezing I have only experienced that when my battery dies it goes white and stays white until I remove the battery. Other than that I feel this phone is great.

I have had my MOTO Q 9M for less than a month. I loved it at first but then after about 3 weeks it started completely freezing up. It gets so bad sometimes that I can’t even answer a phone call because it is stuck on one screen or another and it’s not just the internet either. I clear my temp files every time I log on and even tried not using the internet at all for a whole day after rebooting. I am going back to the store to complain today. There are way too many glitches in the phone and they never should have released it until they worked them out.

This phone is great. Has all of the features you would expect and more. The only downside is the battery life. But I got the extended battery which lasts about 5 days compared to the standard battery which is lucky to get thru one day.

Fast internet and easy automatic email sync to my office server. A must for a business exec.

  25. Decent phone, looks good
    Will

    By: Will
    October 7, 2007 @ 6:05 PM

Got the Q9m as a fairly cheap upgrade from Verizon Wireless. Phone worked great as PDA and phone, with easy access to work and personal email and decent internet access. The phones really good, obviously taking styling queues from the RAZR & SLVR, but Motorola needs to get their act together, as does Microsoft. The phone takes exactly 49 seconds to boot up, so once you have it on you’re not going to want to turn it off much. While it packs a lot, such as the ability to edit/create Word docs, spreadsheets, allows you to synch up with work email (outlook based systems) and has a very watered down version of Internet Explorer, it doesn’t do well on viewing certain internet pages, and definitely doesn’t do video over the internet as it lacks the ability to work with Adobe Flash Player. The media playing abilities of this unit are also mediocre as both Motorola and Verizon have had enough time to come up with something better than Windows Media Player and the default media player that Verizon has loaded. The phone lacks a lot of simple, yet good features that Verizon offers for regular cell phones, such as the ability to download good, affordable games. My first unit worked fine for 3.5 weeks, then all of a sudden started acting like a bad Windows ‘98 or 2000 PC; instead of taking 3-4 seconds to process a task, it took 60 seconds or it would just freeze up and would cause me to reset the unit by removing the battery. Don’t expect much help from anyone on resolving this issue, as Verizon Wireless is completely clueless on their devices. Best bet is to make sure you get a complete replacement warranty; it costs $5.99 a month, but is worth it without a doubt. Once you purchase this, or any PDA/Smartphone/Pocket PC, you are on your own for applications, games and figuring out how to make the phone work for you. Microsoft is useless as they don’t even offer much in the way of applications that work well with Windows Mobile 6. Both Microsoft and Verizon push you to a company called Handango, and it only gets worse from there as I keep finding applications that were written for Windows Mobile OS 5. As bad as it sounds, this is still a lot of phone for the money I paid ($50 + $32 tax). You can’t get a Blackberry or Palm for that amount of money from Verizon.
