I have been using this phone for about one year. It has been working fine but recently the center navigation button came off and it is hard to use without this button. Also, the MMS facility is not so good. The battery backup lasts for one day. Resale value of this phone is also not good.

  2. Complete Waste of Money

To be blunt, this phone is a piece of crap. It looks really nice in its pictures and works fine for the first year or so. After that, the little circle in the center has trouble sticking to the phone and will inevitably fall off (my friend had the exact same phone and hers fell off too). The phone is not fragile, but definitely not very sturdy. The rubbery exterior gets scratched very easily and after a few months, you’ll have a very beat up looking phone. Also, once the center dial falls off, the buttons around it start scraping against stuff and fall off. Total waste of money and not reliable at all.

I ordered my daughter her phone off a website. It came with all info in another language. We can’t get voicemail or down load pictures. It was to be her Christmas gift. I am very unhappy.

I have had this phone for over a year and it has been pretty nice, until recently the center button has started falling off. Now, I have lost the button and it is really hard to press the center key! I have to buy a new one soon, but it lasted a good year.

  6. MotoRizr is easy to use; design flaws
    Mary

    By: Mary
    June 25, 2008 @ 9:01 AM

I’m satisfied with my MotoRizr’s performance. I’ve owned this one for almost a year now. The interface is easy to use and it caters to my needs. The size and shape of the phone is very convenient. However, the design of this phone has some flaws that I was not pleased with…

    1. The lens (the clear part protecting the screen) is made of glass, not plastic. I had the phone for a week, and I dropped it, and the screen shattered. I didn’t have insurance. However, I found a cell phone repair shop that could replace the screen for $30. From then on, I’ve been super careful with it. It doesn’t seem practical to me to have a phone with a screen exposed at all times to have a lens made of glass. It just seems easier to break that way.

    2. The buttons on the front of the phone do begin to come off. My circular navigational button is starting to come off, and I noticed this yesterday. I’ve been searching online about how to fix it, with no success. Anyone have any suggestions?

    3. This isn’t a design flaw, but rather a function flaw. After 2 consecutive hours of talk time, the phone just drops the call. 2 hours on the dot every time. It’s very inconvenient. It’s like it needs to take a break, as if it were overheating.

But other than that, like I said, I’m fairly satisfied with the performance of the phone. However, the design of this phone definitely needs some adjustments and updates.

    Pros: There are NO Pros

    Cons: There are Many Cons

Same issues here after 3 phone replacements by T-Mobile

Also I thought I was the only one having issues with Z3 Phone it turns OFF itself while talking, taking a photo, video or checking messages.

It will also reboot while just sitting idle.

I am not looking for all the gadgets you can think off. Just a phone please. Anyway the ringtone is fantastic, the sound is excellent, the look of the phone is sleek and sexy and easy to use I do not like flip phone. The speaker is soo loud that you would think that this is your home phone. It is fantastic!!! But the reason why I really bought it, is because of a very simple gagdet that nobody seems to have. It has a reminder beep when you get incoming calls that you’ve missed. Afcourse I can by a blackberry and have a light blinking to whole day, but I certainly do not need that. Anyway this is the best phone I have ever owned.

I really do like this phone. I love the MP3 player and the camera is fine. It’s pretty easy to navigate and the features are pretty easy to understand. The only faults I find with this phone is that the SD card is in an inconvient place (have to remove battery cover) and after having the phone for a few months (7 months) the keys from the outside area start falling off.

I bought this phone about 2 months ago and it’s great. The USB connection it has with the computer makes putting music in it a breeze. The menu was pretty easy to navigate and when I text the keypad seemed fine. One problem with it is sometimes, it is slow to react to the keys I’m pressing. Anyways, this is a good phone and recommended.

  11. Very compact and highly functional

I currently own and use a Motorizr Z3 and I wanted to take some time to explain why I chose it and continue to use it in spite of the problems that I have encountered. Prior to owning a Motorizr Z3, I had a run-of-the-mill, free, Motorola flip phone from T-Mobile. I found the menus easy to navigate compared to Nokia and I liked their design aesthetic a bit more as well. I have also previously owned a Nokia flip phone and I found that the upside to it was that I could enter text or numbers as quickly as I wanted into the phone and they would appear as soon as they could be displayed. I was dismayed to find out that I had to wait almost a full second to type a name into the address book of the Motorizr with the fear that the first few letters would be cut off. Motorola really needs to work on the load times of their phone apps. The Motorizr interface is otherwise a pleasure to use. The device is only a bit bigger than my iPod and it feels smooth in my pocket and doesn’t catch on anything. The slider is very smooth and is the best that I have found compared to the other LG Chocolate rip-offs. The menus are intuitive and I found linking the phone to the computer via USB cable or Bluetooth both to be easy (I had to download a plug-in for iSync with my Mac from the German Company Nova Media). The 1000 number capacity of the phonebook is one of the features that first attracted me to the phone (many only store 500) and the expandability of the phone via the MicroSD card is also cool. However, because the phone is so small, the card is wedged in the battery compartment and while removing it once I snapped it in half and had to remove the broken pieces with tweezers. Thankfully, I had just made a backup of everything. Anyway, I am mostly pleased with the phone and it does everything that I want a phone to do without reminding me of its design flaws. However, there are a few things that really should be dealt with so that they never happen again. First of all, the talk command button calls up an amazingly slow, loud and functionally inferior applet. Because of the position of the button I find myself hitting it inadvertently and then having to wait for the slow app to load and then close. I have learned to avoid this annoyance, but Motorola really should have enabled a reassignment of the function of that button, so that I could put something more interesting there like a calculator or datebook. The biggest problem with the phone in my opinion is the weak glue used to adhere the center menu button, the circumferential navigation ring, and the thumb bar to the face of the phone. Within two months of using the phone, the thumb bar had fallen off and a few weeks later I saw the center button go as well. With an additional exposed opening, the circular navigation ring fell off as well. T-Mobile customer service (611) told me to push the button back on the phone, which I did. However, I knew that this would only be a temporary fix and found the time between reattachments growing shorter as time progressed with the ring in a permanently unattached state (no sticky left in the glue) after another three weeks. I have since replaced the phone, as the center buttons are a known issue and I am happy with the renewed functionality of the phone. Overall, I would recommend this phone to anyone who doesn’t want to shell out the money for an iPhone or other handheld, as it has much of the core functionality of those devices (music player, phone book, address book) with a more barebones interface. Just don’t let anything get under the buttons susceptible to unattachment, by keeping them clean and not doing picking at them. If you have any opinions or with to further discuss how I implement this phone in my tech-life, feel free to contact me.

  12. Looks good & works well!

Being a former Ericsson-die-hard, I had the idea to try out this special offer for €99.00, stereo Bluetooth headset included. Using all the menus showed to be somewhat complicated in the beginning, but still manageable after getting used to it. The stereo sound on the headphone is magnificent. But outdoors you have to think about the placement of the phone to avoid interruptions. This sometimes spoils the pleasure of listing to music and/or doing calls.

The phone itself looks good, feels good, and performs well. Connection to the computer and data exchange through USB cable and special software is easy and efficient. The software even allows modifying audio files and movie files, and to synchronize telephone and calendar data from computer and cell phone. Movie clips are pretty sharp to look at, and my overall impression is very positive.

  13. Looks aren't everything

I am on my fourth Motorizr Z3 to no fault of my own. The first phone the middle button fell off and they said this was a common problem and sent me a new phone. Great except mine was in perfect condition beforehand and I had to pay the shipping. After a few months my second phone started acting like it had a virus. Hanging up on people in the middle of a conversation and not disconnecting or letting me hang up. My third phone arrived with a broken speakerphone. Anytime I pressed a button, speaker phone on or not, it would make a static (like a blank channel) noise for 10 seconds. T-Mobile had never heard of this and made me go in to the store and after a 45 minute wait the person said they had never heard of this before either. They sent me a new phone, free of charge because I refused to pay shipping again. So, now I am on my fourth phone. I don’t know why I bother being careful with it.

Now, the actually phone is hot that is why I bought it and spent too much money. Now I wished I had gotten the $30 phone. The software that comes preloaded takes up too much space. It came with about 10 pictures, some of them moving ones, and now I can only take about 8 pictures before it gets full. I talked to T-Mobile and Motorola and there is no way to get these pictures off. I will not be buying a Motorola again. The music player I used at first, but once I realized I could get 25 songs loaded instead of the 100 the salesperson told me I could it got old. If you have powered down the phone and you have a reminder the phone will turn on or ten seconds while the reminder comes on and then shut back down. This is really freaky until you realize what is happening. So, you need to turn it on silent before you turn power it off. The battery is ok. I charge mine every other day. I have noticed that on all four phone is doesn’t give an accurate meter reading of the battery. It was say full, even if you go within the detailed menu, and then within in half an hour be on critical. This is why I charge it every other day, not that I need to I just have no idea when it will suddenly start dying. The ring and speaker phone aren’t very load. The screen is gross. All I do it clean it

  15. Cool phone but sensitive buttons

    February 7, 2008 @ 9:20 AM

I got this phone about a couple months ago from customer service of T-Mobile. When I got my phone, I thought the design was beautiful. I used the phone like crazy after that. After a while, the phone started making phone calls for me, started to play the music player when I’m too busy to listen to it, and worst of all, it turns on when it should be turned off. Anything can touch the power button and the phone will turn on. And if it’s not on vibrate or something in your pocket starts playing with its buttons, there will be problems. For example, someone sent me voicemails in the middle of class and my phone started to go off on LOUD! This phone also started going off in the middle of the movie. To save yourself from the embarrassment of having this phone go off at unexpecting times, get a password at start-up if it happens to turn on, that way, nothing will happen until you unlock the phone. Other than the phone pressing random buttons for you, it’s a good phone.

They sent me a new phone becuase of some of the problems i’ve had with the previous one and I’m still having the texting problems and I can’t use it to call numbers, I don’t think it’s a coincidence anymore that both don’t happen to work well, and I don’t recommend this phone to anyone who is looking to get a new one.

  18. My favorite phone yet!!!
    Candice

    December 4, 2007 @ 2:01 PM

In all, cell phones have difficulties, like memory card access and dents/dings. Remember, this is a cell phone that goes practically everywhere. (Think back to the rotary days.) Of all phones I’ve had, this is my favorite! It comes in WSU cougar crimson, does the cool slide action and is very reliable. I was extremely disappointed in the Razr durability and sought unlocked phones across the seas. My last phone was specially ordered from Siemens in Europe because of its styling. After additional durability issues, I excitedly bought the Rizr, which fulfills my conversation needs. The camera is not the sole purpose of the device, but I’m confident it was meant to answer calls, primarily. The keys are small, but so is the phone. I have larger sized fingers, but I get things done (live and learn). Un-slide and slide options are awesome. It’s like a candy bar phone and flips phone’s best qualities. Plus it looks way stellar. I find web access from ’slide-closed’, the handiest feature…

A step short from PDA but cool enough to be the accessory to any night ensemble.

I’ve had mine for just less than 2 months and am already having trouble with it. 2 of the front buttons came off and my text messaging does not work very well. Also, I don’t receive some of my calls occasionally and it reacts slowly to pushing buttons, this is my first Motorola phone, previously I’ve used Nokia and I am not impressed with the quality of the phone by any means but it does have some useful functions such as the music player, the camera is okay, and instant messaging.

  20. Substantial & smooth

This is my first Motorola phone, previously having been a Nokia user; I have to say I’m impressed. To be honest, I don’t care about multimedia capabilities in a cell phone; I just want a phone that functions well first and foremost as a PHONE (what a concept) and also accommodates occasional texting. The MotoRIZR has a smooth, solid slider action, very good speakerphone, and excellent all-around audio quality, so much so that it’s very difficult for people I speak to be able to discern I’m on a cell. My only regret is that there isn’t a customizable shortcuts menu as I had with Nokia, so finding certain features can be a frustrating hunt. And this phone is robust- I dropped it on a concrete floor from several feet up and it bounced a few times before coming to rest. I expected to see numerous scratches and dings, but I can hardly tell it was even slightly damaged.

So far Im pretty pleased with it although its not perfect. I may not be the best to act as its my first cell phone but I had a razr v3t for a few days and exchanged it for the rizr. Like the color and that it looks different.. LIke that I can take my itunes and use the songs as ringtones and dont have to pay tmobile for them and get to change em whenever i want. picture quality on camera is poor. also since the phone is small, i keep hitting the keys on the side when im on the phone. spker is ok – not as bad as most reviews said. the screen does get dirty quickly when its next to your face. i also was able to transfer video on to the phone so now ive got moving pix of my dog. the sim card is really awkward so i hope you dont have to take it out as its not easy. the usb cover is also very flimsy. its ok – dont think its the greatest but i would recommend looking online – if i bought from tmob even with 2 year contract it would have been 100 dollars. buy from wirefly or something like that and its free with $50 rebate. moto service is poor tho – call 1800 # and you go to india
