You’ve gotta start somewhere when you’ve done nothing but become a pro couch potato, right? Well, Wii Fit is a good place to start. I’ve got chronic asthma, am overweight and have a job that allows me to do not much more than work on broadening my posterior.

We bought the board/fit package used at a local Gamestop for around $20 less than the new price, which really made it worthwhile. Hubby and I have played most of the games, and have found favorites that we gravitate toward.

For those of us who don’t work out but REALLY need to (and weigh under the 330 pound board limit), Wii Fit is a really nice place to start. I don’t want to have witnesses to my lack of stamina, and with this game I can work out for 5-10 minutes, take a break and switch to something that works other muscles.

I’ve gotta say…Love it so far!

It’s better than a gym because it is quiet.

  3. Great Introduction to Exercise for Couch Potatoes

I haven’t been able to find a friend willing to exercise with me and am not willing to pay the hefty $$$ to pay for a personal trainer so the Wii Fit is a reasonable and cost effective way to get me off the couch and moving around. I’m not really motivated to exercise despite recognizing that I should so this is a low impact introduction to exercising that makes exercising fun and enjoyable.

I agree that it’s not for those who exercise already unless they are interested in trending their balance and weight (the BMI calculations in the Wii are NOT scientific).

It is really cool that there is an interactive gaming system for exercise but it is aimed more for the couch potatoes rathen than avid gym goers. It takes some time before all of the games/exercises are unlocked and frankly, only a couple of the items somewhat challenge me. I really love the boxing game, I can actually break a sweat! The balance games are a little lame….the skiing games are ok. This system is great if you are new to exercising or need a really slow paced exercise due to health issues. If you actively exercise, this system wont do anything for you.
