I bought this system a little over a year ago.

Nothing but trouble with playing CDs/DVDs/MP3s – about 6 mos. in – I would lose audio and video – took in for repair under warranty – took 2 mos. to fix, got back, and unit self-destructed – wouldn’t even spit the disc back out – another few months past – finally replaced with another unit under warranty – 4 months later – happy to finally get a “working” unit back – now this unit won’t let me watch or listen to CDs/DVDs without getting “disc error”/”incompatible” disc error messages.

    Spend your money elsewhere.

Onkyo took what was a pretty good system and coupled it with some really crappy speakers. You can buy the unit separately as the DR-C500 and get your own speakers. I purchased the Jamo A-210 PDD satellite speaker system and the combination sounds much better. I just wish this would play DVD-A or SACD, but it really came down to a price/feature issue.
