Bulbs are expensive

I’ve owned my unit for under two years, and I am already on my second bulb. The manual claims that the bulbs have a maximum life of 10,000 hours, but there is no way I have even come close to that. Just to add salt to my wounds, the bulb burnt out 3 days before the Super Bowl. It’s being shipped overnight for $361.00, including tax and shipping. The bulbs come with a one year warranty, mine expired 1 month ago. As for the picture, it’s beautiful and I really like the set when it works and is not costing me an arm and a leg to operate.

Nice TV but expensive to maintain

After 10 months, the ballast in my 50LC13 went out. That was 3 weeks ago. I’m still waiting for a replacement part that is supposedly on back order. Do some searching and you’ll find that the bulbs and the ballasts on rear projection TVs do not last very long. Replacement bulbs cost $300, ballasts cost $350. When the set works it’s great, but I can barely remember what an HD picture looks like now.
