I have some problems with mine. The music works great, but I’ve never been able to get pictures to load onto it. They show up in “my computer” after I’ve loaded them, but the picture file on the mp3 player is empty.

Also, my battery lasts around 2-3 hours, not the 18 everybody’s talking about (that’s after a full charge too).

I love this thing. I use it all the time, holds a ton of songs, battery life is amazing. I gave it a 9 because it’s not compatible with windows vista, is there anything to make this work?? And I have a question, when you play a song and hit the menu button, what does the “Buy Now” option do??

Great player! I agree with most everyone’s comments except the one pertaining to battery life. My battery charge seems to last forever. With so much time between charges, I sometimes forget where I put the dang charger! Love the FM player/recorder feature. Better than average sound quality if you upgrade the headphones. I gave it a 9 only because it’s not compatible with Macs. I can live with that though. I’ve had my HDD1630 for over a year now.

Holds a ton of songs, little miffed about the support and accessories from Phillps but got a nice charger somewhere else, yes they have car chargers for this thing so now I’m even more mobile for the long trips, they even have the mounting brackets for it that hold it pretty darn secure in my 4X4 pickup truck, with the new alpine I have in there I don’t need any of my cd’s anymore, just plug it in to the input jack and I’m on the road, too bad Phillips hasn’t come out with anything yet

So i’ve had this plare for well over a year now and I still have not had any problems with it freezing up, yet.

I personally hate iPods, and this is far more reliable, and let’s face it sexy then the iPod.

I hate the fact you have to use WMP to load songs onto it, but what ya gonna do =)

Like everyone else who owns this, I am really annoyed at Phillips for not bringing out a car charger for this player. I was just looking on their website for one, did not come across one, but saw 2 or 3 different iPod car chargers, not happy…

I use this virtually every day going to and from college, which is an hour and half round trip, I sometimes listen to it during school as well, and it lasts for about 12 hours before having to charge again.

My player does not have the radio feature, which sucks a lot, but from all these negatives comes positives.

Lot’s of room for music, easy-to-use scroll system (don’t listen to the reviews saying "Ultra-Sensitive" it’s really not) various playing methods, various sound options, can show album art when available, decent battery life, generally looks dam good, and small enough to fit in your pocket, but not too small that you loose it.

Overall, a great product, just wish Phillips would bring out a car charger for it.

on the whole I have to give this thing pretty high marks. Its easy to use, and has worked almost flawlessly. The only thing that is bugging is the lack of a car charger/adaptor. Come on Phillips support this great product with the necessary accessories.

If you want to stand out of the crowd this player will do the job. Its compact .. compact enough that if you place a credit card on top the unit will disappear behind it.. yes smaller than the size of creditcard … very sleek look … excellent fit and finish. The blue glow when you touch the button gives that ultra high tech look. Volume controls and power button are located on side and are made of very durable quality material. The high gloss enclousure with steel sidings gives a very expensive look.

I bought mine about 3 months ago for $199.00 and so far I am liking it … I use about 4 hours a week when I goto healthclub and to me battery life is pretty decent … I get about 11 or 12 hours of use per charge. Display is quite bright and very clear.

I have about 1030 songs loaded on this unit … more than enough songs I need. Radio is definately a plus .. comes in handy as at times I listen to news and weather. Whats neat is you can record Radio on this device; and voice recorder is definately a plus… for college students this feature could be quite nice to record lectures .. specially those physics class when your mono tone teacher lecture is making you drowsy.

Device not compatiple to Mac … yeah ok … I dont have a Mac but if I had a Mac yeah that wouldnt have worked out too well.

… and thats the reason I gave it a 9 rating … very minor issue.

Oh and onething please use factory supplied headphones to get better radio reception … antenna wire is built in to the headphone cables.

This Mp3 is great. Great looks, great sound, great everything. Why would anyone want a 2 gig ipod nano instead of a 6 gig thats the same price?

This was a great play, bought mine at bestbuy and went home, charged it fully and it works great. You have to charge it completely the first time, otherwise the player thinks whatever you charged it to the first time is it’s maximum capacity. Great sound, great image quality.

  12. Battery Life

The HDD1630 does not have a battery life of 18 hours as advertised. The first day I had it, I charged the battery for four hours. Six hours of continous use (listened to recorded music) the battery went dead. I recharged the battery again for four hours, this time I only used the radio, the battery lasted 8 hours. So I don’t know why Philips and the outlets that sells this product, keep advertising that the battery lasts 18 hours. They’re all full of boloney. I have not tested yet the 3000 songs capacity yet. I only have 617 songs recorded. It works smoothly when downloading music, but the battery gets a ZERO rating.

  13. On par with the iPod

I hope I’m not shot for saying this, but I actually like the looks of this little bugger more than I do the ipod. It’s super-sleek appearance and just-as-sleek maneuverability makes this a wonderful little MP3 player in my book. Please note that this is the first player I’ve bought, and I don’t have an iPod–but I have used iPods, and Phillips HDD1630 works just as good. It works seamlessly with Windows Media Player, and accepts ALL mp3s! The ultra-sensitive (a good thing not a bad thing) scroll button is wonderful, and works perfectly, and the player is easy to navigate through. I gave it a 9 instead of a 10 only because it isn’t compatible with Macs, which for some will be a downside. Other than that: A+
