Philips VOIP841 does not do touch tone menus

The biggest drawback with this phone is its lack of support for navigating touch tone menus.
You can press digits and hear an audible tone in your attempt to navigate phone menu hierarchies. But it will get you nowhere. Pathetic.

Do not agree with Review

Have been using VOIP841 heavily for 10 months now and have had no major problems. Also have 2 PC signed into skype under same name, once again no problems. Use this phone for work with many international calls through Skype and very happy. The phone does not feel flimsy at all. Once phone number put into skype it can be found irrespective if you are logged into skype or not. Genberally I would very much recommend this phone.

5 Stars for me

My experience is totally different from the professional reviewer’s comments on the sound quality, dependability, and connectivity.
Been using Voip841 for about 2yrs + with cable modem and 0 issues. No Grouping of contact though in Skype though. This is true of all Skype phones that I’ve seen.

Good phone after all

I agree with the expert review, not having a addressbook is really annoying.
Since contacts can only be saved on Skype itself, you have to save local phone numbers (to be called with the landline) with a international prefix in front.
However once you get used to this you find out that the phone is so easy to use, the shape and weight distribution of the phone fits perfectly in your hand, the loud speaker function works pretty well (the phone can also stand when out of the charging dock), and batteries last really really long.
About the mentioned problem of logging out when you want to use Skype from some other device… I thought this was normal practice… however is true that if you go away for few days and forget to logout it can turn quite annoying

Hello all,

I also have no problem using Voip841 and my skype on pc (version 3.8.0.115) at the same time while both of them are online.
Cheers!

Basically agree with review: cannot make skype calls
By: Ennio-Sr

Hi,
I fully read your review and basically agree with you, except on one point: I can connect to Skype on my PC (running Skype_1.4.0 under GNU/Linux Debian Etch) while the voip841 is on. However I’m unable to make any Skype call either way (i.e. either the PC Skype is on or off, the voip841 is unable to talk to the ‘Echo Test’ (echo123)).
It works reasonably well for Skype Out and landline calls.
HTH
Regards,
Ennio
