Only thing worse than their DVD-R is their user unfriendly website

I bought the SATA DVR-2810 to try and get the maximum read and burn speeds, using the SATA interface. Instead, the burner recognizes my 16X Memorex DVD+R and my Philips 16X DVD-R as 12X. I updated the firmware to the latest available (1.22) and still no change. I went to the pioneerelectronics.com website but they obviously do not want user feedback as there is no place to leave it! Also, the website is very user unfriendly and the FAQ section is useless. I might understand not reading the Philips properly, as they are not that common, but the Memorex? Needless to say, I’m taking this one back and buying another brand.

It really is a nice drive :) pretty cheap with rebate too ! …a little of the plastic part broke off when i plugged and unplugged the SATA cable…nothing too serious. As mentioned by the other reviewer –> no documentation and cables you should have a newer power supply that has those !!!

Docs and Cables

Pretty good drive but nothing special. Nero software is a nice bonus.
Documentation is abysmal. No mention whatsoever of what the third connection is on the back of the drive and in fact it is not even shown in the picture of the back of the device. Needless to say there are no instructions on where to connect this to (probably the sound card).
No cables come with this drive and the power requirement is for an ATA DC cable to be used.
Remember that no matter what kinds of a deal you get on this drive you will need to add an extra $20 for the SATA and DC ATA cables.
I would give this a higher rating if Pioneer gave even a semblance of customer/tech support in their docs and supplied cables.
