Recorder too slow
By: Cecilia

I did not have any problems installing the equipment but it took 50 minutes to record a DVD. Is this normal? It seams to slow for me.

Worked just fine, right out of box, nicely quiet, turn on your PC, plug it in, and enjoy, after few DVD jobs, no coasters.

It never worked .. and wasn't recognized by the system.

I gave it a “1″ rating only because “0″ wasn’t available. I just bought this yesterday and it is not recognized by the system and cannot be installed. I called Micro Center where I bought it and there tech rep just said … It’s probably defective as Windows XP should have recognized the device (Which I already knew). Now I have to make another trip to return this. After reading these reviews … I’ll get my money back and not an exchange it for another potential headache.

Garbage

I bought one of these units at Best Buy, and it does not burn any CDs or DVDs. Box is not damaged, and unit looks new, but it still does not work. I personally know many people that have bought products at Best Buy, only to bring them home and find they don’t work. This is the last time I buy anything other than a laptop case from Best Buy. I really think they sell reject electronic equipment.

DVR-X122

Purchased a DVR-X122 at Best Buy. It didn’t work so I traded it in for another one and had the same problem. If they have had so many problems why are they still in the stores? Pioneer Company has not responded to my complaint. Looks like I’m not the only one having problems.

Don't buy

I bought this drive at best buy. Was originally $100 and lowered to $80. I noticed a couple of the boxes were banged up, now reading these reviews they probably were returns. Anyway, set the drive up, everything installed correctly. Problem is I can’t burn a CD. Keeps coming up with all different errors. Computer is brand new, so obviously it’s the drive. Pioneer is offering a free replacement, but hell with that; I’m getting my money back and getting one that works. How does best buy get away with this crap?

DVD drive stopped working
By: Claretian
December 31, 2007 @ 1:27 PM38ppm12>
I had this for about 3months. Initially, the drive did work well burning/playing CD/DVD’s but apparently now it comes on but each time you put a DVD/CD in it, it just says ‘No disc in drive’ even though the DVD/CD work elsewhere. I even have connected this USB drive to another computer and no luck. Will try the replacement product from Pioneer and see how it goes.

I too have use mine for about 3-months and now it does not work. I’ve tried everything except I can not find a new updated driver. I thought maybe this would help but no luck finding. I would not recommend unit.

DVR-X122 doesn't work, not working, problems

Same as above. Bought from Best-Buy, used the freakin thing for about two weeks with success reading and burning CD-R’s from Sonic (not Nero) Never burned a DVD. Now, the device wont even read a CD, and I’ve only had the device for about two months. Do not buy this item. Mine was also from a box that looked as though it had been returned. Someone needs to report these guys to the BBB.

The worst
By: Dave H.

I purchased from Best Buy. And spent 10 hours trying to get DVD to play and copying 10 GB of files. My computer keeps locking up after installing Nero software.
Best Buy continues to be an extremely bad place to shop. Out of 20 visits I was only able to find 2 people to answer questions in a semi-professional or any other way and this time was no exception. After purchasing this pioneer external Dvr and finding out you have to purchase more software just to make it work. I have become very dissatisfied with product and distributors. Note: after installing basic software that comes with Recorder, many programs are not working properly on XP with 1 GB of memory. I don, know what will happen when I try to un-install.
Buyer Beware

Just bought the DVR-X122 it doesn't work
By: Nicholas Rock
June 29, 2007 @ 10:39 AM44pam6>
I bought this 2 weeks ago at Best Buy. I have spent 2 hours already trying to figure out why this doesn’t work.
I have doubled checked the power cord and its (frumpy) connection to the machine, the USB cord is connected and connected to my computer. I have rebootted several times. I am unable to use this DVR-X122 to download the software. When I bought this item at Best Buy there were 5 other boxes on the shelf that had been opened, retaped and put back on the shelf. I found only 3 that had not ever been opened on the shelf. This should have been a warning to me.
