Poor Battery
By: Daniel

I’ve had my Inno for 1.5 years and have never been able to get more than 3-4 hours out of the battery. Now, the unit appears dead, the charger make a high pitched sound like its charging, but the unit is dead. I had to return my first one after a week or so, now the folks at Best Buy tell me it must be the “luck of the draw” and I can’t get a replacement battery, or anyone to even look at it. This unit was $250, and I’m just supposed to throw it away???
Very disappointing and a rip-off!!!

I drive for a living and am a parent of a teenage boy who is always on the go. This product is a lifesaver. Not only can I listen to my favorite XM channels on the road but I can carry it with me to games and do my daily walk. And what I really like is that I can switch to MP3 when I want to listen to my personal music. The only problem that I found was that the on/off button is easily moved so the battery drains.

Major disappointment

The inno was a huge disappointment! I couldn’t get a signal long enough to listen to an entire song. Its suppose to be portable, but does poorly. FM modulator is not internal on this unit. Get ready to pay XM 70.00 for the accessory. I cancelled the service and returned the unit to the store. Heck, my old roadie did much better than this product.

This little device is perfect for my lifestyle; easy portability for outdoor work or exercising, lots of music/talk/sports selection of course (as part of XM), and most importantly, the ability to record without getting the computer involved. The only negatives are battery life and the hard drive partition feature which I didn’t learn until I had about 400 good songs recorded (I’d like to reconfigure the hard drive to 100% XM but don’t want to sacrifice my songs in the process!). Bottom line – I use it every day and love it.

XM Radio is ruining this product
By: Teresa

I love XM radio. It the perfect service for someone who appreciates more than just one or two styles of music and is tired of listening to the same songs over and over on the iPod.
I was a subscriber long before XM introduced the MyFi; its first generation portable and recordable radio. Like most first generation technology it was obviously rushed to the market before anyone attempted to solve any of the common sense problems. No FFW or RWD, could not create or organize play lists by artist genre etc., could not record individual songs.
At last the Pioneer Inno comes along as the solution to the aforementioned problems. This product is truly a gem and makes me wish my commute were longer so that I could discover and record more songs. My beef is with XM purposely dirtying the tracks.
Somewhere between RIAA and XM Radio they have decided to have ridiculous pre-recorded DJ voice over’s on a seemingly 70% of the tracks (I have heard the same voice over on several occasions). This is quite irritating on the playback. Oh, and the remaining 30% of the tracks don’t have a clearly discernable start point or end point. Sometimes the next song will start with the song data of the previously recorded track still on the screen so you hear few seconds of a song you don’t want at the end of a song during playback. Or the beginning of a song gets chopped for the same reason. And of course the content is encoded in a special XM Radio format that makes it impossible to load into a WAV editor without doing an analog recording.
These issues have made me bitter about the product that I love so much.

I have only one negative about this radio, it’s terrible in the car with the car dock and car antenna…it cuts out all the time, it dosen’t matter if its back road or highway…outside of that this radio is a great device…

Excellent for my needs

I loaded up my brand-spankin’ new Inno with a little more than an hour of recorded comedy yesterday and then took a walk around the block (which is a 4-mile walk in my neck o’ the woods)The sound through the included (very comfortable) earbuds was exactly what I expected, crisp and clear. I had it clipped to my pant using the included belt clip and I listened to pre-recorded XM-150 for the whole way. I got within half a mile of home, and I ran out of pre-recorded material, so I switched to live XM. I got great reception, provided I held the unit in my right hand, giving the antenna a clear view of the southwestern sky. Your body WILL block the signal. Until XM puts a satellite further north, people up here in NY (away from repeaters) will suffer from signal loss every time you drive by a tree to the southwest. I will use this for live playing in the car and at home, but when outside or travelling I will use the pre-recorded material. 50 hours of recorded material should be more than enough to get me through my 10-day vacation 4 weeks from now. I got home and found that my battery meter did not move one iota, it was still buried on full charge.
This device MUST be plugged into a dick to be usable. There is a docking port on the unit, the power and antenna can only be connected through a dock. It comes with a home dock, but the car dock will run you an extra $70. It cannot be charged via the included USB (I tried), and the XM-Napster software that links the Inno to your PC would not even install on my Vista system.I got an error message saying that the OS was too old, I needed at least Win2K or XP.
So it’s a very nice device, butit is not without its flaws. Still, it beats the pants of my 2.5 year old Roady II, so I have retired that and the Inno will satisfy my XM radio needs for the foreseeable future. Now I really will be able to use my XM anywhere.

IPOD 30gb on the way!!!

Nice device and very well made but disappointed on the way to split memory.
Only lets you do 100% xm or 50 / 50 xm /mp3. Sounds good but with the Inno in the house signal cuts in and out making recording xm content a waste of time.
Just paid $300 bucks for this in December giving it to daughter.

built in antenna is awful

I have a love/hate relationship with this player. My 1st day with it I was excited to use it. I used the ear buds that came with it. I read meters & walk outside. I could only hear about 3 words per song. The guy at Circuit City said my body may have been intervering with the antenna. I had it cliped on my belt. I don’t know where else they expect you to clip it. I ended up spending another $40 & bought the belkin headphones with built in antenna. 100% better. Where everyone is getting 5 – 6 hours on the battery, I don’t know. I had it fully charged, no back light on, & im getting maybe 4 hours on a charge. Its a neat little unit which I am starting to love alittle more. I hated having to spend more money on the new headphones, but it was either that or take everything back.

The MyFI was the building blocks for this device, but with new feature that allow you to record hours of music, that will allow you to sort, and delete what you want. It also allows you to rewind or fast foward withing the song. I am so hyped about this device.
If there is anyone out there that are trying to compare this to the Lil’Doggie company so called portable device, then let me tell you first hand there is no comparison. Their device is not portable and you can not walk around and listen to live music, unlike XM portable products. Also if you want to record 30 straight hours of music you can, the doggie companys will only record a hour of content at a time.
