Every once in a while a calendar item will keep ringing every hour on the hour for anywhere from one day to a week. If you go to the calendar, it doesn’t even show the appointment anymore. It’s not a defective unit — I exchanged it once for the same problem. There’s obviously a hardware or software design problem.

Love the phone! One problem: I am accustomed to ending a call by closing the cover. This does not work on this phone. I even spoke with a Samsung tech persaon and he said apparently, the only way to end a call on this phone is to actually press the end button.

All you have to do is set your phone to save to your microDF csrd snd it id s piece of cake to get them on your computer and as far as i know to put your own ring tones on you just need to make sure they are 15 seconds long (might even be able to be 30sec) and save them as a .mid file and put them in the “my sounds” folder

  4. Couple problems

I bought this camera so I wouldn’t have to carry a phone, mp3 player and a camera. While it works fine as a phone, its camera and mp3 abilities should be better than they are. The camera has serious shutter lag — don’t even think of using it to take pictures of moving objects. As an mp3 player it is handicapped by its jack — doesn’t accept standard earphone plugs unless you plug in a dongle that converts the phones native jack to a standard jack. Great — another thing to carry around and lose. For me these two issues are serious enough that I don’t use the phone or mp3 player.

Another curious problem is that occasionally, when I try to shut off an alert for an appointment, the alert will continue to notify me periodically even though I’ve acknowledged the alert. Continues even if I delete the appointment. Very annoying — keeps ringing every hour until midnight.

I love everything about this phone with one exception. I am on my third phone due to the phone constantly shutting off when closed shut. This has happened with all three models and the customer service rep at the Verizon store said it was happening to a lot of these phones.

so i got this phone 2 months ago when nobody knew about it because i loved the camera feature. but the problem with nobody knowing about it is that nobody knows about it. the day i got it, the sound was very bad. there was this intermittent buzzing noise and voices sounded fuzzy and muffled. i thought it was just verizon (i’m a new verizon customer). but my roommate’s phone didn’t do that. so i took it in and they got me a new phone. but this one is doing the same thing! is anyone else having this problem?

also, does anyone know how to turn the sound off completely for all functions on the phone? i’ve read the manual inside and out and there’s nothing there about that.

Everything I’ve read says that you CANNOT get pics off the fone using bluetooth, but perhaps you have figured out a way to make it work? Additionally, you can get a USB cable for it, but AFAIK for the moment that’s only good for syncing music w/ WMP10. What application are you using for getting pics off? Neither BitPIM nor Data Pilot say they support the a990 on their websites.

If anybody has found information about using the business card scanning feature, I’d love to know about it…. TIA!

There are 3 ways (bluetooth, USB, and microSD) to get pictures off the phone WITHOUT using Verizon’s data services. You could also email them to your email address, but that costs $0.25 unless you have the PIX/FLIX messaging plan. And as far as USB printers, “Who has that?” Well, USB has been the connection standard for sometime now, and most photoprinters include the pict-bridge technology or something similar.

And as far as transferring music files, you can put those on the MicroSD card and slide it in the phone. Sure Verizon would rather you pay for the VCast download, but you don’t HAVE to. Sometimes you have to check the manual, and p.147 tells you how to sync music from your PC to your phone.

Ok, so I checked out this phone before I got it and it seemed pretty cool. It still is a cool phone, except the ads keep raving about it having a 3.2 megapixel camera in it and it basically looks like one and what is the point of having high quality pictures if you can’t get them off your freakin phone! I mean, there is an option that allows you to print if you can plug your usb right into your printer, who has that? Some people I guess. But it also claims it better that you can just print directly from the printer without the need for a computer. I mean seriously, who has a printer and no computer, I mean how stupid really is that. Everyone has a computer and they make it sound like it’s so much better because you can just print it out from your printer with no need for a computer. Yeah, that’s great, but the problem is it’s NOT. I’d say most people want the pic on their computer. It’s cool to print it, but you can’t put it on the computer from the camera. Seriously, pretty lame. It’s also lame that verizon won’t let you transfer music files to use as ringtones from your PC. Ok, a little understandable that they want to rip us off a little by making us by ringtones. ha, ok other than those things, the phone looks cool. But the main thing is, what is the point of having a great megapixel camera if you can’t get the pictures off it.
