So I have had this phone for about a year. I got it for my birthday and thought that it would be great. It was for about 1 and 1/2 months. Then Verizon recalled it but did not tell me and I was having major problems as it was with it. So I missed the recall. Over the last 3 months I have had it replaced 3 times and serviced 4 times. I HATE IT!!!! Today I finally got Verizon to get me and NV Touch! Thank God.

Gipped

I was excited about this phone for a minute. I bought my Glyde four months ago (May 09) and it worked fine long enough for the thirty day return warranty to expire. Since that time, I’ve had nothing but problems. 1) key a message; click send and slide it closed, the phone turns off, completely off and must be turned back on. 2) touch screen often freezes; the phone has to be turned off and then on. 3) having an micro sd card is useless. I can add music, sounds, and pics and they won’t show up on the card after it’s inserted back into the phone. 4) battery life is minimal. 5) contacts disappear. 6) cannot transfer files from phone to pc or pc to phone. In short, if you’re looking for a good phone that is reliable even for basic use, this is not the phone. I wouldn’t recommend it. AND, the best yet, when taken to Verizon, I was told they could replace it with another three times in a 90 day period (one a month–$20.00 each replacement for transferring contacts and shipping, that’s $60.00 total) before honoring a totally different phone. This phone rates less than a 1 (one) but there is no option for zero.

Frustrated

At first, I loved this phone, and the touch screen was working great. But after a month and a half it started to get on my last nerves. When I wanted to send a text message and try to hit send, it just hits back, and when it finally does work, it just randomly restarts. I’ve hung up on my parents a couple of times cause I cant hit the answer button, and it also randomly calls people. Yhis has been the worst phone ever, and at times I want to just throw it against the wall. I have to wait freakin 2 years til I can get a new one, so hopefully I dont kill myself before then.

I love the idea of the glyde, the easy texting the touch screen blahblahblah but the touchscreen doesnt always work (and it sometimes makes e want to throw it out of my window) and sometimes when I am texting and i send the message and close the phone the phone will restart and not send the message another time when I have to put it down so i do not smash it or throw it out the window.

Beyond frustrated with my Samsung Glyde
By: Mary S

This phone leaves a lot to be desired. I got my first Glyde in August of 2008 and by September I was having the classic issues with it (freezing and having to pop the battery off to shutdown, pressing one area of the screen only for another to respond). I then got my second phone followed shortly after by an software upgrade. My new phone worked no better than the last. I subsequently received two more software upgrades, one in late December which would make my Glyde “like a completely different phone” (it didn’t) and the most recent because “the last one didn’t reach all phones.” Well guess what…none of them reached my phone. Now in addition to the issues I mentioned before the phone wasn’t unlocking when I was trying to answer a call; the cursor was moving all over the screen when typing with the QWERTY keypad so my messages were jumbled; areas would remain highlighted indefinitely so my phone (without being touched) would go through multiple commands and go from “bright screen” to “dim screen” to off and back again; to not letting me select anything.
Each time I went into Verizon the techs treated me like an idiot who didn’t know how to properly touch her phone’s screen and give me a tutorial. I would explain to them that I indeed know how to touch the screen because I managed to do it before my phone showed its true colors. Most recently they added “you’re using too much memory” as the reason to my phone’s malfunctioning. Thinking they might be right I bought a memory card and deleted all text messages…and guess what my phone was still not working correctly.
On my last visit to Verizon (today) they tried to send me away by saying that since it wasn’t malfunctioning for them at the present time that there wasn’t anything they could do. I would not have it, this phone is making me crazy so I demanded to speak with the manager. He began to offer me another phone…after talking he said I would have to pay for it in full. Hell no! I’m not buying a new phone because the Glyde sucks. Then he made it seem like it was my problem stating “we sell at least 12 Glydes a day and no one else has problems like yours.” I then asked “why all the software updates?” He stated they do them for phones just like they do for Windows operating system, for maintenance, not because there is anything wrong. Unfortunately, the last tech told me the updates were because the phones were having glitches that they were trying to correct. When I said this the manager looked back to his computer and said nothing. I did not appreciate being lied to and told him that I wasn’t leaving until they did something. He offered me another Glyde, and I took it because I was tired of dealing with him. All in all, this is the worst phone I’ve ever had and I don’t appreciate being treated like an idiot who is the only one having an issue with the Glyde.
(I’m selecting one star because I’m forced to have at least one…this phone is far from star worthy.)

Returning my new Glyde in less than a week
By: Scott M
March 2, 2009 @ 5:45 PM46ppm3>
I’ve always had good luck with Samsung Phones. I’ve tried Motorola (RZR) and LG (Chocolate v1) and not been impressed. Battery life on Samsung phones is always impressive for me.
I really wanted the Omnia because of its WiFi – but I don’t want it bad enough to pay for the Data Plan @ $30/month. So, I chose the Glyde – knowing that the phone was a bit thicker and the screen was an odd size – both things I knew I could live with.
Well, here are the things I cannot live with:
1. Having to try to touch a button 4-5 times before it will register – this is particularly true of touch-areas in the corners or sides of the screen.
2. Battery life – OMG – the phone WILL NOT last more than 30 hours on a full charge. Keep in mind, I talk maybe 10-15 minutes on my phone each day and my phone has yet to be in an analog area which I realize could drain the battery quicker. I did have Bluetooth turned on (didn’t use it) – but turning it off had no effect on battery life.
3. The screen-saver fails to work some of the time (perhaps most of the time).
4. I slide the ‘unlock’ and although the gold icon moves to the unlocked side of the slider – the phone remains locked.
5. If I see a phone call that I want to take, I want to answer by simply choosing ‘unlock’ – not have to unlock and take my chances with trying to touch the answer icon.
6. Given the great voice-dialing capabilities of Samsung phones (no training necessary) – and the lack of any tactile response on a touch-screen phone – there really should be a button on the side of the phone to activate the voice-commands feature.
Luckily, I’m involved in an employee discount program which provides extremely good terms with my contract (no activation fees, no exchange fees, etc) – so it will cost me nothing to exchange my phone for a different model. I did verify that my phone has the latest software before I made arrangements to return my phone.
The Glyde hasn’t changed my opinion of Verizon or Samsung yet though as I ordered a Samsung flip-phone to replace the Glyde. The Verizon rep I talked to on the phone acknowledged they get many calls on the Glyde and gave me no hassles about returning the phone for a different model. Samsung obviously failed on this phone – I’ve done some reading in the past day or so (which I should have done before I ordered the Glyde) – which show the overwhelming problems people have had with the Glyde since it was first introduced. Hopefully the issues with the Glyde are related to that particular model and not signs of other problems with Samsung R&D.

Sleek but a piece of junk

I bought the Glyde in June 2008. I had the same biases as everyone else on here. The phone is sleek, stylish, the QWERTY keyboard is great, touch screen. However, today (February 25th) I will be getting my FOURTH glyde. The problems I have had have been many. The touch screen registers your touch all over the screen. I want to touch the bottom left side and it will register at the top right. When making it “work” it will either freeze or shut itself off. It calls people when locked. I had to put the American Airlines phone number first so it would stop calling my first A friend. When I take it back to Verizon, they are surprised that I am having problems with it. Apparently, no one else is. I find it hard that I have received FOUR crappy phones in a row. Please don’t buy it, it’s cool at first, but you will regret it! WORST. PHONE. EVER.

DISSAPPOINTMENT

THIS PHONE IS HORRIBLE AND IT MAKES ME SO ANGRY!!!!!!! Don’t ever ever ever ever ever buy it, anyone. The Touch screen has a mind of its own and doesn’t respond correctly to your touch.
I have had to replace this phone twice, and no matter how many times its replaced, It ALWAYS fails.
After about the first month, the touch screen goes haywire and stops working.
WHATEVER YOU DO, DO NOT BUY THIS PHONE

The phone has nice features… such as keyboard, easy-to-work camera. I like the fact you can lock the phone practically in any function such as the calculator, picture views instead of having to re-engage them. It’s just the touchscreen works whenever it wants to. IT’S HORRIBLE!!! Worse phone I’ve ever had. Sad to say, a lot of other users are having the same problem. I would return the phone for another one under Verizon 1 year warranty but I’m afraid it’ll eventually have the same problems. I’m suprised a class action lawsuit hasn’t been filed yet. :(

I wanted a new phone, and spotted the Glyde. I liked the small size, the hidden keyboard, and the sleek look. I didn’t want some big blackberry since I check my email so much throughout the day, and I am not required to be on a leash as part of my job so I figured this would be a great choice. As soon as I left the store and started playing around with it, I began to think I made a big mistake. The touch screen was not good for my bigger fingers, and the people whom I called all said that I sounded “muffled.” Also, from playing around with it for only about 45 minutes, I noticed the battery being drained at a somewhat rapid pace. All of these things I could handle, but for one…when the phone was in my pocket, and even though it was locked, it accidentally dialed someone off the contact list…two separate times. So, I went back to the store and didn’t even have to explain in detail what the problem was…they found my old phone, re-activated it, credited my card, and off I went. The store gets 5 out of 5…but not the Glyde…sorry

This is such a great phone! Many people think it’s horrible but I 100% DISAGREE! The touch screen is awesome and so is the full keyboard…but one thing; you need to have small fingers!
