  1. Decent, Problem with LCD Though

I got this camera about 4 years ago and it was great from the get go for an entry-level camera. Yet I had the same issue as another reviewer. After some time the LCD screen went white with lines. After awhile it failed to work completely. This was a problem since sound cannot be heard while looking through the viewfinder. Yesterday I decided to open the camera up and to my surprise a golden strip of wiring that connects the LCD to the rest of the camera was split in two. I’m not sure if this is a design flaw or what but it’s pretty aggravating. I’ll continue to use the camera for basic home movies but I’m considering a new camera.

I bought this unit for under $100 brand new over a year ago and use it somewhat frequently without any problems. It is what it is… An entry-level product with some higher end features. I use it for taping just about anything and my videos come out fine.

I bought this camera about 6 months ago and I have not had a problem with it until now, but I did not do anything to cause it any harm. The LCD screen just goes white and does not work. The viewfinder still works fine but the screen is either white or has lines running horizontal and sometimes vertical. I don’t know what’s wrong with it.

  4. Is not worth its value

This camcorder is simply horrible. I bought it in some sort of rush. I was looking for a nice, affordable, and complete video camera with a mic out jack, and this one happens to have one. As soon as I started using it a few days later, the problems began. First on the playback of my videos, pink squares appeared on the screen probably a CCD prob. Shots with low light would give show red grain on screen. And last but not least I didn´t use it for about a month, leaving it in its CASE, now the camera looks foggy, but there is no way to eliminate the fog. It seems like some other problem with the CCD.

Long story short, I regret paying for it.

This camera has many nice features and comes with good DVD software. Problem is that Samsung has CCD failures causing fuzzy video or complete black screen of death. Many people have had this problem with this model. It’s not an isolated event. Buy something else. Samsung won’t do anything for you if you have this problem.
