It’s a very good LCD but I noticed a blue pixel that can’t get off.

good looking of coz (that’s why we bought them) but it surely lacks some performance. I don’t have much problems with the images. But the viewing angle is pretty narrow

Dead/Faulty pixels
By: Barry
December 6, 2003 @ 8:18 PM19ppm12>
I picked up a Samsung 172N yesterday, plugged it in, and noticed 2 blue and 2 red pixels that would constantly remain on. I returned it eaarlier today, plugged in the new one and noticed one blue pixel that remains constantly on and 2 that are just completely dead. My mom bought the same monitor and since telling her about this problem, she has noticed 3 blue pixels that are constantly on. Three different monitors and the same problem with each. Has anyone else noticed this? Maybe i am being too picky but a 17″ LCD is not cheap and I expect it to work perfectly out of the box. It makes me wonder if this problem will get worse. If you would like to check your monitor simply change your desktop background to all black. This will reveal any constantly lit pixels. Changing the background to white will reveal any dead pixels.

Very poor viewing at 1280 x 1024

I love the look of the 171N, but am very disapointed with the performance at what is supposed to be the native resolution (1280 x 1024). I had to settle for 1024 X 768 to avoid going crazy from all of the shadows/blurry images. I e-mailed their support to see if there is something I can do to improve image quality, but no response (and no phone number on their web site). Overall I think I would have done better to spend $500 on a top of the line 19″ CRT.
