Total rip off

This product was a total disappointment since day one, the first week I had my 4GB 25 station portable it shut down and would not turn on again. Customer support, if you can call it that, is only available through Email, which you of course won’t find out until you try to contact them, which makes the whole thing that much more frustrating. After I mailed in the defective unit, as I was told to do, I didn’t hear anything from June until 2 weeks ago (October 4th) when I sent an email requesting the status of my replacement, all of a sudden it shows up on my front porch from UPS, no paper work enclosed no tracking number or email notification, nothing, and this is 9 weeks after I sent in the defective unit! Someone could have stolen it off my front porch while I was at work and I would have never had a clue! Now the best part of my story, happy enough with just having my $200 slacker that I should have had months ago, I take it inside, charge it for 2 hours like they instruct in the manual, and bam, it shuts down and WILL NOT TURN ON AGAIN! The exact same thing the first one did. And even better for the first hour it did work I scroll through everything to see that it works, and there are mp3’s stored in the library (not slacker music) it feels like they took my broken G2 and literally sent me someone elses broken G2. I seriously feel that my limited 1 year warranty is going to expire before I get any kind of resolution. I feel totally ripped off, literally I feel no better about this than when my car stereo was stolen a couple of months ago, maybe even worse because I just handed my money over to this company, I have gotten no reply in response to my emails about this problem (I am now asking for a full refund).
And I am seriously considering driving up to there main warehouse in Oregon just to give them a piece of my mind. I have never paid so much money for something that functioned so poorly and been so completely insulted by the company who sold it to me.

I bought this play and have had it for two months and already the top buttons have fallen off and the battery stays charged for about a day. It turns off when it feels like it. The stations play music I have banned and I refresh the stations and it says I need to refresh again. The musics the only thing I like.

Slacker g2 Portable Player

I’ve had my G2 for about a month now. I love the player and free service for music. I gave up my XM radio subscription. The player can be a bit buggy at times, but over all a good product. The scroll wheel really doesn’t bother me. I haven’t really tried the MP3 side, no need with all the free music.

G2 rules

I have had my G-2 for 2 weeks and am loving it. I just ordered the FM transmitter for car and charging dock. I listen at work and the endless tune variety is awesome. I could never go to an IPOD now. Free music rules!

A lot of shine but not much in the area of performance.

The Slacker G2 reminded me of older cell phone technologies from the late 90’s. Lots of nice packaging and marketing but not much actual money spent on what makes the product work. The Interface is beyond sluggish. Earphones lack bass and make the sound muddy. Refreshing the stations is either a daily process or a day long process. What I mean is that if you don’t update the songs daily it will take you hours to do a refresh (which must be done at least once a month). Also, don’t even bother contacting customer service. They are not only helpless but will lie to you to keep you “happy” with the product. All in all, I wish I’d waited for technology to catch up to the idea of the product. The Slacker G2 is an inspired piece of consumer electronics…too bad it doesn’t work.

I think overall this write up hits all the points. I don’t really have any objection to the scroll wheel, but I also don’t find myself really scrolling that much when I use mine. Overall, for all the music I get (and don’t pay for), I found the 200 bucks to be a bit of a bargain, but if you are an MP3/download person it probably isn’t for you. I listened to Slacker all summer while I was trapped at school and found it to be awesome and was pretty stoked to see this new player come out so I got one and couldn’t be happier.
