The A700 is at the top of the game with Firmware V4, there is almost no noise..if you can get the A700P kit it is worth the money. The 16-105mm is a great lens remote. I love this, I am so glad I did not get a Nikon D300, which I almost did, but I thought about my Minolta Lens…..I am very happy with this camera.

Sony Is It

I’ve gone through so many Canons and Nikons in the past year, all of them were either returned or sold by me, including a Mark II 1Ds. Every time I buy a new camera, I always end up comparing the quality to my old Alpha 100 with the crap kit lens. Strange, but I haven’t found any camera that provides the depth, color, sharpness, and accurate dynamic range and bulletproof focus that the Alpha does. Against my better judgment, I bought a Canon 50D. I returned it…I took the same pics with the Canon 50D and the Sony Alpha 100 and the Alpha 100 blew the Canon away, despite the fact that the Canon was armed with an EF-L 24-105mm lens. What I also did was take a CF card to Circuit City, shot with the Nikon D300, Canon 50D (with an EF 24-105 borrowed from the 5D neighboring next to it), and the Sony Alpha 700. The Sony Alpha 700 hit it spot on every time. Super sharp, super vibrant, super bright but with superb clarity throughout the frame. Sony takes a lot of crap for not having the top LCD…something that was only necessary in the days of film, when there was no other place to put the readout info. Nowadays, it seems pretty stupid if you ask me. I know a lot of pro photographers…none of them read their top LCDs…they all look at the LCD screens on the back of the camera, like everyone else does who doesn’t shoot film. Don’t waste your time testing Nikons and Canons. Most reviewers are $wayed to $ay nice things about the top two (shocking surprise there…). The Sony Alpha is a true professional photographer’s tool. It is the only camera I have ever owned that sees exactly what I see through my own eyes. Turn it on and shoot!!!

I got the A700 with the vertical grip; first of all I should say you have to get the grip because the camera feels completely comfortable with it…
It’s fast, solid and performs great…
The colors are spot on and the burst mode is wonderful…
The noise is really low and you won’t worry increasing it…
By the way you’ll see significant improvement if you uses a high quality lens like Carl Ziess 16-80, or 135mm…
