Horrible picture quality. In fact, the picture quality was so bad I thought the camera was defective so we returned it for a new one with the same outcome. The picture quality is that of the old vcr tape.I have seen better video on my brothers hi 8 camera. Such a shame

A great blend of options

This camcorder is perfect for us because the recordings are edited, then transferred to standard-size DVD via our DVD-recorder. With the appropriate optional cables, data transfer has no image degradation. We own a digital-camera, so the still image quality is not important to us. The handy wireless-remote, intuitive customizable menu, battery-life, good recording quality and overall ease of dubbing footage made this camcorder an easy choice.

I love the functionality of this little jewel overall. It’s on screen prompts are easy to navigate. At the time of purchase, I wasn’t too concerned about the still quality because I already had a Sony Cybershot that was my constant companion. Now that the Cybershot is “shot,” I have to use the still portion of the camera. The pics are grainy at best, not something to brag about, but acceptable alternatives, especially if you’re into saving the memories. Overall, I like the camera, but would I buy this one again…no. I’d be more careful to get everything I wanted up front, even if I have to pay more.
