I’ve had this burner for a couple of years and with the right media (Taiyo Yuden) I don’t recall a single bad burn or rip in months. I burn at 4.5X rather than the 8x max.

I’ve been using this burner for a few weeks now. I’ve performed burns with Memorex brand CDs and they worked well for me. The extra buffer (8mb as opposed to 2mb) really helped with the burning processes. Everything was smooth and I had no problem backing up GBs and GBs of information. The burning software wasn’t bad but I felt that it was more limited. It didn’t give me the free will to drag and drop and rearrange to my own free will, instead it asks the user for what he/she wants to be burned onto the disk and it auto arranges it. This can be overlooked though, as long as it gets the job done right?

I have been using this Sony for about four months and it is fast, and I have never lost a DVD. Handles all formats. The packaging software that came with the burner could have been better.
