I am very impressed by this unit. I have owned several Sony ES pieces over the years and this is one of the very best.
DVD images are excellent. The Dolby Digital sound is wonderful and SACDs are beautifully presented.
Unlike other DVD units I have heard, the 999ES is also a very fine CD player in its own right.
Build quality is very solid indeed, with smooth controls and a handsome, uncluttered appearance.
I own the silver (brushed aluminium) version of the 999ES which nicely matches the new Sony ES receiver range and, in my opinion, looks even better than the smart black finish.
