I have had my Sony Changer for 5 years and
I have had no problems with skipping. I love it. The sound is great and you don’t hear the same songs over and over.

I had my Sony for one day and the third CD I played it started skipping. Then about every other CD would skip for 5 seconds and disappear from the menu list.

5 years and now skipping

It’s been a terrific box with great sound until this skipping issue started. I’m trying to get a service manual for it but everyone wants to charge for a PDF? It’s got to be a dirty head. Does anyone know how to clean these things? I’ve tried the CD cleaner discs but no luck yet. Some CD’s play fine while others jump back to the beginning. Very frustrating.

I had my Sony CDP-555ES for 4 1/2 years and loved it also until it started skipping at 3 years. It is now in the shop for the last 3 months since the skipping is very erratic…it can run all day with no problem then I can’t get through one song the next day! Very frustrating! Good luck to those of you that have no problem, thank your lucky stars!

I too have had mine for a little over 5 years. I have not had any problems. But I guess like with anything there can be a lemon in the bunch. Too bad they are hard to find since the download craze. If you have alot of CDs and can find one I say get it while you can. There is no way you can beat all the features. It is worth the investment.

I have had this unit for 5 years. No problem at all. Great sound and it will play random through all the cds and not play the same song twice. It also has a delete feature which allows you to delete a song from playing until you decide to reset it again. The remote control has an LCD screen that shows you the artist. You can use a keyboard to key in the artist name. It has so many features that I can’t begain to list them all.

I have this product, it lasted 2 years and is now having major trouble. Major skipping of the discs. It was cleaned, then laser replaced, still problems. I wouldn’t buy it and for $499 on this site, they are out of their minds it’s $274 at best buy
