When viewing on HD,this TV produced vivid color and details. DVDs look great on this TV, and analog coaxial looks good.

The picture quality of the image is pretty good. This is my first big screen so take my comments with a grain of salt. I had the pop problem that was discussed by others, I had to kill the power to the unit to get the image back. It only happened three or four times in the year and a half I’ve had this tv. I recently noticed bleeding of the red and blue colours if you go into the image divergence screen. In retrospect I wish I had checked this in the store prior to buying. I also wish it could do more than 1080i, but that was as good as you could get at the time. I am happy with the price I paid, it still seems like a decent deal for what I paid for this tv (2500CAD for the tv + Bose AM6-III + Yamaha HTRS5730S at bestbuy in nov 2004). I’m glad that I bought the extended warrenty because I don’t think it’s going to last until 2009. I’m pretty hard on hardware.. I have this tv hooked up to a ps2/xbox, hd satellite (and I did have rogers hd), and a computer. I’m sure this falls in normal use, but I do tend to push things by pumping it to the max quality and running many devices. I don’t know if I would buy this tv again.

I’m not a video expert, but it looks good to me and has never hiccuped. (I hope this doesn’t jinx it.)

15 days after buying the set it made a pop and shut off and then went to green picture with retrace lines and bowed picture. Did this over and over and finally its all green. The store agreeded to take it back and I will not buy another one. When it worked right it had a great picture

  6. Unreliable at Best

This is my first big screen TV. I was excited to get it home, and had no idea what to expect. The picture did not seem as clear as the in store picture had seemed when watching Dish Network; however it was amazing when watching DVD movies.

About 2 weeks after getting it home, it made a ‘pop’ sound and the convergence went out of whack. I re-adjusted it and it was fine… until it did it repeatedly usually about a week apart.

Then about a month and a half later, while watching a movie, it did the same ‘pop’ noise, only this time it shut itself off. It would not turn on, and the red power light was flashing. I unplugged it and plugged it back in and it worked.

The service call was to be the following week, that weekend it turned off again, and this time nothing would bring it back.

The service tech had to take the chassis with him and 2 days later they returned with it, saying they had replaced 2 of the chips, (related to convergence), and 2 fuses.

The picture was much improved in all cases and I thought, “OK, I just got a TV with a couple of bad chips.”

Exactly 2 weeks after the repair, it made a ‘pop’ sound and the convergence went out of whack. I re-adjusted it and it was fine… until it did it again 2 days later. I am awaiting the repair tech, which will be coming in 2 days from now, and hoping it does not go all the way out again.

IF YOU WANT TO VISIT WITH A SERVICE TECHNICIAN TWICE A MONTH…
This may just be the TV for you.

  7. Great price for a poor picture

I am a Home Theater associate for a big name retailer and recently purchased this set. I returned it immeadiately due to several factors: Extremely poor convergence, Red tint is exaggerated, and sets have been know to have ghosting with certain images. For my money now I’ll stick with the big boys of RPTV’s: Mitsubishi.
