Canon introduces EOS M: A pint-sized powerhouse

Check out our full review of the Canon EOS M digital camera.

If there’s one thing that gets us excited about cameras, it’s definitely romantic French accordion music. Canon has just released this teaser video for their latest camera in the award winning EOS series, the EOS M. The powerful little camera is practically a Rebel T4i DSLR jammed into a point-and-shoot’s body, so even if you mute the accordion music, its hard not to fall in love at first sight.

For Canon’s first entry into the category of mirrorless, interchangeable-lens cameras, they didn’t hold much back. Although Sony, Olympus, Nikon, and Panasonic already have mirrorless models on the market, Canon’s EOS M is poised to be a serious competitor, given its APS-C sensor. Most other cameras in this category — save for Sony’s NEX line — have smaller sensors, and trade image quality for compactness. Other noteworthy additions to Canon’s pint-sized powerhouse are full 1080p HD video capture with continuous focus tracking, built-in stereo microphones, and the ability to apply filters to your pictures after you take them.
