For some strange reason Sony didn’t release the Xperia Sola at the Mobile World Congress a few weeks ago, instead holding off until Tuesday when it was announced. Still, it adds to the Xperia family of phones that the company is producing this year, and it is a welcome addition.
It comes with a 3.7-inch display with a 854 by 480 pixel resolution, features a 5-megapixel camera, and will ship with Android 2.3–but Sony says that an Ice Cream Sandwich update will be available. One of the fascinating features that the Sola will offer is “floating touch”. It requires a finger to hover over the screen to navigate with a light tap to make a selection. It’s pretty interesting.
