Microsoft teamed up with Samsung to update its original Microsoft Surface 1.0 table. The new version features new form factors such as a table, counter, kiosk or wall. Some of the tech inside the new version includes an AMD Athlon II X2 2.9 GHz dual-core processor and a 320 GB HDD. The display size is about 40-inches and displays in 1080p resolution. Currently, it runs on Windows 7 Professional.
Here’s some of what Microsoft says about the platform:
Microsoft Surface® software platform brings people together to connect, learn, and decide, changing the way people collaborate and connect with a 360-degree interface. And, with PixelSense, Microsoft Surface sees and responds to touch and real world objects. This experience comes to life in the new 40 inch Samsung SUR40 for Microsoft Surface that can be used as a table, on the wall, or embedded in other fixtures or furniture.
One of the cooler things that isn’t shown in this video are the gaming applications for the Surface. There are versions of the Settlers of Catan and Dungeons & Dragons on the Surface that use pieces and die made to function on the Surface. It’s a cool application that makes board games even more interactive and in depth.
They are pretty expensive to pick up at around $8400 dollars.
