Had the 606 for about 2 years now. My setup is Polk Rti8 towers with csi3 center and 4 rti4s for surrounds. Sound is amazing! Plays Loud and clear for hours on end, even when its hot enough to burn you lol. This reciever has alot of nice features that often are over looked.... For example you can set what you want the volume to be when you turn on the reciever( so even if you shut if off with it blasting, when you turn it on itll be quiet) - It also has a Max volume cut off setting that comes in handy when you have drunk friends or kids, and it prevents you from causing damage to your speakers. You can Bi amp your front channels and run it in 5.1 mode, which is pretty awesome, and lets you play extremely loud/clear! You can set the crossovers on all channels to your preference - and even after messing with it for hours, the setup mic always seems to do a better job.... I havent really used it for hdmi/video switching applications but I can speak greatly for the sound quality, it was def worth the money. My only complaint to Onkyo recievers would be they usually dont give you that many surround modes for music - although the 7ch stereo mode is awesome for "rockin" out

Another 606 with HDMI switching problems--same input works sometimes and other times no signal. Too late for warranty. Nice in most other ways, but it fails where I needed it most.

Just bought the 606 to replace my wonderful old Yamaha. I can't not believe how great this receiver is. Great sound, love all my HDMI connections.

I'll back-up what Ron said. I loved the receiver for the first year. Now it's having HMDI problems. It seems the HDMI 1.3a repeater in this receiver is junk and prone to failing.

I love the features in the new 607, but I'm afraid to get it since I don't know if the HDMI issue has been resolved.

Loved the 606 for it's first year. Then HDMI problems occurred. Losing signal/dropping signal. Went through a long series of tracking and it is in the 606 versus other components or cables. All cables replaced.

Looks like there are a number of threads on the net regarding HDMI ports failing after time.

Can't find any help from ONKYO.

Hooked up to a XBOX 360, Digital Cable and BlueRay DVD. All HDMI at 720p, and all are working/switching perfectly. No humming or other line noise. Have the receiver running out to a Gefen splitter and sending signal to both a Toshiba HDTV and a Mitsubishi projector. Works great and the sound is unbelievable. MUCH better than my Yamaha receiver, which was very good in and of itself. Highly recommend.

I had a hard time to decide upon a Bose amp and an Onkyo amp. Finally I decided that I would go with the Onkyo amp thinking about its price and as well as the features that were provided. So far I have not regretted my decision.

Was going to buy TX-SR705 because it had more HDMI inputs than the 605, then the 606 came out! Replaced a Pioneer VSX-906S, which was superb in its day, but wanted HDMI and 7.1 capabilities. Sound, picture and versatility of 606 are amazing. Future accomodation to new technologies are welcome provisions. Overall, I rate this Receiver as Excellent and a fantastic bargain. Well done Onkyo!!!

I am one day in with the Onkyo 606. This is my first upgrade in 8 years and I was uncertain with so many choices. The Onkyo 606 does have it all. You can't go wrong with this unit. I have an old Sony 100 watt with satellite and it still sounds great too. I ordered 4 Klipsch RCX-5's and RCX-4 centerâ….this unit will kick butt. If you truly think about it, we all paid more for much less in the past.
